| Re: Add/Remove Windows components will not open forgot to add that my OS is xp pro sp2. i did a clean install and discovered that the add/remove windows component only breaks after SP3 install. as far as i know there is not anything major that can not be updated individually. still have not found an answer to the problem though. |

| Re: Add/Remove Windows components will not open IMHO, I don't think sp3 is worth jack anyway. So I would just not install it. Any chance you are turning off any services before you install sp3? And maybe you could try slipstreaming sp3 and see if that works.

| Re: Add/Remove Windows components will not open i find it a bit strange that on my wife's pc i installed sp3 and it was fine but mine it was a no go. I didnt turn any services off before the install of sp3. However i have removed a few i dont need or just hog system resources. Im pretty careful when doing that though so i dont remove system critical services. i havent tried slipstreaming sp3 so i may give that a shot. im just kinda tired of reinstalling. ive done it a few times thinking that there was an issue with the install until i discovered it only occured after sp3 install. |

| Re: Add/Remove Windows components will not open update to my problem. i have finally fixed it. Step 1 add ; to the start of this line FAX=fxscom.dll,FxOcmSetupProc,fxscom.inf,,7 so it becomes ;FAX=fxscom.dll,FxOcmSetupProc,fxscom.inf,,7 then i had to install a few other inf's and dll's iis.dll pinball.inf games.inf igames.inf msnmsn.inf zoneoc.dll communic.inf ocmsn.dll setupqry.dll setupqry.inf and i think that was it . on my wifes laptop and PC everything went smooth. just dont know how mine got that way but its all running smooth now. |
