Help!!!

Help guys. I need your help.

My Help & Support in WinXP won't load. Whenever I click on it, it just sits there. I look in Task Manager, and the program helpctr.exe loads for a few seconds, then disappears.

Don't ask me why I need Help & Support. I just do.

Thanks guys.

Does it give you the same response after a hard boot up (completely power down for about 1 minute and then restart)?

Have you used help before? That is, has it always done this or did it just start?

I've used Help before. I just tried to use it this past weekend, and it was a no go. Which was pretty surprising to me, because I have used it in the past with no issues.

If you have a software firewall running, disable it and see if help comes up. The MS help wants to connect to the Internet and so if your firewall sees this it might block it. If this is the case, you will need to figure out how to allow the firewall to permit MS help.

I don't have 3rd party firewall on my PC. I am using integrated XP firewall. But maybe I will have a check at that too.

Any more suggestions? Please keep them coming.

Well, I fixed it with a clean install of WinXP. Not exactly my cup of tea. I had that install of XP running for 5 months.

Anyway, thanks for all your advice.
