I lost "My Documents" shortcut into "My Computer" ?!

As the topic says, some days ago (I haven't done any change in my computer) I lost the "My Documents" shortcut located into "My Computer" window. Please note than "Shared Documents" shortcut are still in place. I try searching across Google and the only information I found is to try "PowerToys - Tweak UI", then look if "Show Files into My Computer" are checked. Yes it was, and it didn't change anything.

Ok, my computer is brand new (P4 3.2G HT, 2 Gb, 320 Go, etc) and my Windows XP Pro is brand new installed, fully updated, SP2 as well.

Did somebody can help me please?

THANKS!!

Most likely you didn't mean to click and drop my documents but you did. The other is you have a mouse with amind of it's own.

Simply move my documents to where ever you want it to be and use cut and paste( move function) not copy .

I usually tell people to be careful of click and paste because of accidentally moving objects without their knowledge.

I absolutely not understand the point of your answer...

BTW, check the picture I add on top, you'll understand my question! My computer is in french, but the shortcuts are located at the same place anyway.

Thanks!

I don't have one in My Computer either. Look at the left middle box, you have a icon that says: Mes Documents

It's the default path... already check that.

It's : C:\Documents and Settings\Administratreur\Mes Documents (in french).

I already know everything about that, but I'll really appreciate to get my big shortcut back, that's why I start that thread.

My Documents folder missing in My Computer
Posted 3/27/2003 by TweakXP Member
This is a strange bug in Windows XP Pro but it can and does happen to everyone. When you open the My Computer screen and your Documents folder is missing but all the other users folders are there try this tweak.

STEP 1:

START > RUN > REGEDIT >

HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE / Software / Microsoft / Windows / Current Version / Explorer / DocFolderPaths

Once you click the DocFolderPaths folder you should see all the user's folders.

STEP 2:

Add a new string value

Value Name: your user name

Value Data: the path to your docs folder ( ex. C:\Documents and Settings\your docs folder )

Exit Registry editor and open my computer, your docs folder should now be visable.

I hope this helps those of you stranded with this problem!

WONDERFULL!! It work perfectly. I assume it's a common bug cause it already happen to me in the past, but I never know why. I assume it's a corruption around the user profile.

Thank you very much "Bofinn" !!!
