pro or home


Hi, sorry just got home did a qucik serarch on here for advise and didnt quite see what was looking for. My question is with xp home soo cheap is there a disadvantage to gettting it verses xp pro. Mostly i game hl2 dm, bf2 oblivian, sometimes host servers and DL torrents. i overcolck everything i can and just need to know if buying xp home would be a bad idea over xp pro. for whati like to do. a link to anything comparing the both would be enough for me thaks all

Don't need anything better that Home Edition unless you're doing some complex networking I'd say. They're both equally stable etc. and should be fine for gaming. If you want to download Virtual PC 2004 from Microsoft for free, that'll require Professional Edition, however. Something I'm slightly annoyed at is how I could have purchased the Pro version at the academic price (I'm still a high school student) for less than I paid for the OEM Home Edition.

It's my understanding that Home Edition does not support hyperthreading. If that is true, then I think you want Pro.

I'm using Home Edition, and it supports Hyperthreading just fine.

It supports hyperthreading and dual core cpus. It does not support multiple cpus though. It is some kind up licensing thing.
