Trying to boot XP from flash card

I am using my Asus Eee Pc and I installed XP pro on the main hdd.
Others have been successful in restoring the image using Acronis True Image v11 which supports flash drives.
I seem to have it running but both XP's are kind of mixed up.
The C hdd is 4GB however the files are saving to the flash card.
I taught that it was not booting to the flash card since the desktop did not change from on attempt to another since I had changed it from the one on the image.
However, I noticed something was up when I had made changes like change the workgroup and computer name and also installed ccleaner. When I had made a new image onto the flash card and booted, the changes I had made before are not there.
Also, when I reboot without the flash card and choose to boot to the internal hdd with the boot menu, it goes into check disk because the size of the hdd has changed.
