| Win XP Service Pack 3 RC 3? Hi there! I've downloaded SP3 RC3 for Win XP from microsofts download site lately but i'm uncertain if i should install it or not. Just wanted to ask if anybody has installed it (and why) or not (and why not). Greetings Dru

| Re: Win XP Service Pack 3 RC 3? Hi Dru...I have RC2 installed - v3311 - on two machines. Other than rearranging my drive letters after installing (you know how XP always wants optical drives to have certain letters) I haven't had any issues. There's no hard and fast reason to install the RC candidate, so it's just a matter of do you want to or not?

| Re: Win XP Service Pack 3 RC 3? Okay, the last thing i want is changing of drive letters. (already had that with XP and i don't know why). So if there is little to no benefit in installing the rc3 i won't install it. Thanks for you reply TQ. Greetings Dru

| Re: Win XP Service Pack 3 RC 3? Well, there are benefits...lots of them. Just google "XP SP3 benefits". I don't doubt that drive letter renaming will be part of the final SP3 release, as it's an XP annoyance. It effected me because I insist on using X, Y and Z for my optical drives. RC2 renamed them (it's default is somewhere in the middle of the alphabet) and that pushed some of my partitions ahead one letter. It doesn't affect C: and - for me - didn't affect D: and E:, which is where I have critical session files. I'll bet that Vista doesn't have this insistence on changing optical drive path letters. At least I'd hope this little annoyance has been noticed and fixed by Microsoft and implemented in Vista.

| Re: Win XP Service Pack 3 RC 3? Dru, SP3 is working great on my system. Didn't even change the drive letters. Much better than when sp2 came out. |

| Re: Win XP Service Pack 3 RC 3? Hi, I have installed SP3 3264 but it does not show under the Add/Remove program. It is listed under the general screen when you go in Device manager. How do I uninstall it? Thanks.
