XP non-destructive restore.

were can I find instructions on how to do a non-destructive restore?

I did a reboot last night and it just reboots in a circle. Once it gies through the XP pro window it jumps back to the beginning.

I had instructions for a Non-destruct restore but it's on the puter.

That's not what I was looking for.

The 'non destructive system recovery" I have on the puter shows all the windows that show when booting with the XP disk. It tells you which selections to make and what not to make and why.

I can't remember what the web site.

I usually keep a slipstreamed CD/DVD with the latest service pack and fairly recent drivers to do a repair-install (which is non-destructive). Which is the link that Skully gave you. I don't understand what else it is that you are looking for.

Having gone thru this a couple of times it maybe confusing for first time users. The repair can effect either a way to get to the repair console or to do a repair reinstall which is the non distructive rebuild that leaves your applications intact and only reinstalls the OS.

You have to pay attention and read the panels and selcet the correct options. I too sometimes only scan the info and miss the importanat stuff and have to do it again. SHORT TERM MEMORY IS THE FIRST TO GO. The only thing worse than growing old ( I agree it sucks not what all those ads about being on the golf course ) is growing even older but as they say it's better than the alternative ( not growing older).
