Actually 32-bit Farcry is still one of those games that runs fantastic with just 1 gig of RAM and a GTX!

sure, 64 bit will be the norm soon enough but it does not magically transforms great looking games into superb looking ones. i remember the 1st unreal tournament that came on 2 cd's. the 1st was the standard and the 2nd cd had compressed textures that looked somewhat better. at that time not many people had those cards so it was usless. i think it was the st3c method.... anyway....

what i'd like to see is a hack to make the 64bit version run on 32bit xp and then we'd see.... i bet with 2gb of quality ram and a 3+ghz cpu with a 6800gt or 7800gtx it will run just fine. they only let you run it on 64bit so they can claim it's because of the 64bit part that it looks nicer when in fact they re did all those textures. the full texture patch is over 500mb....

i beleive its the AMD64 archetecture, and that is what intel copied for their EM64T, kind of like how an AthlonXP will run P4 code. they are the same instructions except for the HyperThreading parts (which amd doesnt need, duh!). If it doesnt work, its because AMD has put another artificial restrictions on

Americas Army is available in a 64-bit version.

UT2004 as well, though I think it's for Linux only.

Looking around on the web, it looks like Riddick ships with both a 32 and a 64-bit binary.

"The Chronicles of Riddick: Escape from Butcher Bay actually shipped with a 64-bit binary out of the box. "

Unreal Tournament 2004 64-bit Patch Review

We first tested 64 bit UT2004 under Linux almost a year and a half ago. The wait for a 64 bit client for Windows ended yesterday as quietly it was released. We test this new client on the GeForce 7800GTX, the Radeon X850XT PE, under 32 bit running Windows XP, and under 32 and 64 bit running XP 64. From the results we are able to not only see how 64 bit has progressed, but also how a 32 bit app runs under XP64, and we also get to look at the state of the latest 64 bit drivers from Nvidia and ATI.

nice thread...

it's good to see game developers finally jumping on the dual core bandwagon...NVIDIA claims its latest drivers are also optimized for dual-core processors

isn't Quake 4 optimized for dual core as well?
