It isn't the best situation but the original game was enough fun so that I didn't object too it to strongly. Still, nothing beats a well designed save system, a weakness of both Titan Quest and DSII. It would seem that instead of going through all the time and effort spent on "designing" a save system developers would just let you save anywhere you want. Easier to do it would seem to me.
I think they lose sight of the fact that people - because real life intrudes on gaming - often can't put the time into making it to the next portal or rebirth fountain, yet they're forced to do so or otherwise lose all their hard-fought progress, all the while the situation that requires them to get off the game is standing over their shoulder tapping its foot impatiently. So, they just play by rote until they can get to the next predetermined save point.
Not fun.
Spot on... people don't have the time to get to that extra portal or shrine... But thanks for the hint on just reloading a savegame... I thought there was only 1 savegame and that it would be overwritten when you get "tombed"....

Naw, at least it hasn't worked that way for me. I remember when I first died in DSII and I lost all my stuff I thought "uh-uh" and reloaded my last save game without thinking about it. It took me back to the last town I was in and all my gear was with me.

So you did some manual copying outside of DS2? Because DS2 only offers to continue with a character and save a game. It doesn't say anything else.

Anyway, after playing it for a couple of hours yesterday (about lvl 14 combat magic) and finding some nicer gear I have a little less trouble staying alive. Starting to think it is pretty nice game indeed. Visuals aren't too bad either and I like the fact of adding people to my party and equiping them.

Also, talking to the necromancer to retrieve your corpses and gear when you die is also an option. Okay, you loose some gold but the gear is far more important... But still too bad you have to play for such lengthy periods to leap from one portal to the other with almost no option to quit in between.

No, if memory serves I just exit the game and go back to the main menu and hit "continue" which loads from the last save point. Sorry for my imprecise description but it's been a while since I did this.
Your manual copying idea sounds intriguing, though...

I haven't posted in a while. But I just finished up the normal level over the weekend. Although I enjoyed the game greatly, I was sort of disappointed with how easy it was to beat the "BOSSES". Basically I just stood there beating the crap out of them while drinking a health potion. I died a total of 20 times during the normal level and most were when I got ganged up on by the lizards/dinosaurs, can't remember their name.

I started the Epic level and did a couple of quest but they seem no match for me so far. I finished up on level 33 and looking forward to see if EPIC is any harder.

I got distracted a couple of weeks ago when I got a new laptop and installed Etherlords 2. Although the game is kind of old, and it took me a minute or two to get back into turn based strategy. I am really enjoying the game and the battles. I don't have any idea whats really going on in the story line but I've been having a blast trying to come up with the right combination of spells and artifacts to defeat enemies in battle. Which is the reason I haven't been playing Titan Quest as much. I haven't enjoy a game like this since Final Fantasy VII. Just wished the story line was as interesting as Final Fantasy VII.

That's one hell of an endorsement as far as I'm concerned. Might have to look into it.

Classic mythology is nothing if not immortal, so it wasn't terribly surprising earlier this month when THQ mentioned in a conference call with investors that it would be expanding its PC action role-playing game Titan Quest.

The publisher today gave the first details on the expansion pack, dubbing it Titan Quest: Immortal Throne. The expansion adds eight new character classes to the game, dozens of new monsters, hundreds of new weapons, and 10 extra character levels. It also includes a new environment in the underworld of Hades, and offers "more than 12 hours of single-player content per difficulty level."

Titan Quest: Immortal Throne is slated for an early 2007 worldwide release.
