| Ok...I ordered the strategy guide! It's on the way this week....bloody idiots at Best Buy (2 different stores) and 1 Circuit City didn't have it. I had to order it online. After glancing at some of the strategy webpages posted and ones I found, I think I chose a bad character and characteristics for the role I'd like to play. So I think I'll restart, since I'm not far in and choose better. |

| Good idea I chose one of the pre-made characters before I learned a little about the game and it was a bad idea. Make a custom one with only the characteristics you want. One tip, (if I may so bold) would be to pick attributes that can gain experience from things you will do anyway, e.g. jumping and walking, it makes leveling up a LOT easier. If you want to be cheap about it you could put your character on "autorun" and stick them in a pond facing a wall over night. I tried it and my character went up 6 levels while I was sleeping

For my second run through the game I chose a Redguard that was born under the sign of The Steed for a speed bonus. On my first go 'round I unwisely chose a Wood Elf, one of the physically weakest characters. Still, I stuck with it and round up with a truly bad *** little Elf. It was much easier, though, during the game's early stages with the Redguard because of his innate longsword skills and his speed. A pure mage would also have a hard time of it early in the game I think...

| Good Morning, KT. Joining the Mages Guild is always a good idea for a number of reasons, one of which is access to their network of teleportation which gets you to strategic areas all over the country. By the way, joining the Morag Tong's Guild of Assassins is fun and interesting, too. I'd caution you to keep your Guild and House associations to a minimum (remember, you're automatically a Blade) to keep quests from conflicting and to enhance your replay value in the game. I was never associated with more than three Guilds (including the Blades) and one House. I can't suggest strongly enough that you learn how to use the game's editor, as it allows you to tweak certain aspects of the game more to your liking, such as giving the merchants additional money so you can get a more fair price for loot. Morrowind's merchants are unrealistically poor in areas (such as Balmora and Vivic) where they should have more ready cash. Careful how you tweak, however, as you don't want to upset the game balance. I also suggest that you get the official plug-ins from the Elder Scrolls website: http://www.elderscrolls.com/index.ph...rect.htm&bg=05 Especially the Master Index plug-in (VERY cool additional quests), the Area Effect Arrows plug-in, Helm of Tohan, Siege at Firemoth and Bitter Coast Sounds. These either add additional game content or in the case of Bitter Coast sounds, ambience. |

| I keep occasionally hearing my character say "Someone is watching me, I'm sure of it". Is that something I should worry about? BTW...just finished I guess kind of my first "real" quest, although it was short and easy. I stole a diamond from the alchemist lady in Balmora. Oh....and according to web guide I'm using, I joined Mage's Guild, Theives Guild and Hlaalu house. |

| Hehe !!!! I got the Morrowind Guide at eBay. I also picked the Breton. When you track down the Boots of Blinding Speed you will see why the Breton is a good one. Joined the Mages Guild, the Fighters Guild, and then late in the game joined the Thieves Guild. It seemed at the time the only way to successfully fullfill one of the quests was to be a master pickpocket instead of killing someone to get something they carried. If I killed them it would have voided future quests. And that is an important point. Read ahead to see what quests conflict and how to avoid it if you want to do as many (or all) of the quests as possible. If you do them out of order (or unknowingly do one you never knew about) you could screw things up and never get those quests. There are many conflicting quests but many players have figured out how to successfully do both of the many conflicting quests. So read ahead in the hint book as well as the web walkthroughs. You won't really "need" Azura's Star until you're into the Tribunal quests. I never changed anything with the editor. I think part of the game is having to travel clear across the county in order to sell a high dollar item to one of the only two "wealthy merchants". I may be back to Morrowind soon. I'm about to finish Deus Ex 2. Let me know when you get your first breathtaking screen shot. __________________ Visit and chat with the ABXBuds at the #ABxZone channel on EFnet Internet Relay Chat If you don't have it then download mIRC from www.mIRC.com |

The item values indicate the worth of an item, and should not make your eyes light up with $$$ signs thinking of selling them. Just take the game as it stands, play it in the order of Morrowind, Tribunal then Bloodmoon, and enjoy the surprises, challenges and incredible scenery and atmosphere as it is

There are quests that the game will never permit the player to see or even be aware of if you do certain things at certain times. You completed only the quests the game alowed you to see while the game was hiding other quests from you. Those quests you can never do unless you perform an obscure or unlikely thing first. Since I became aware of the fact that Morrowind will hide quests from me, and my style of playing a game is to "do it all" first time through, I researched all the quests so that the game will present them all to me while playing. What would you consider a "surpise"? It seems the game gives itself as you play. "Someone is watching me, I'm sure of it." Oh, KT, make sure you save your game frequently enough.

| Should I sell the spell for "flight of Iccarus" ? A web guide said it didn't work, which makes sense as the guy who invented apparently died when testing it for first time according to his journal. It's worth a good amount of $$ (at least at this low level for me) and I'm short of that right now. But I don't want to sell it if I need it later for something. |

In these days of "checkpoint" save systems and dumbed-down-for-the-XBox game design (think Deus Ex: Invisible War) it is refreshing to have the power to tweak a game to one's own liking. Again, as I said, one must be very careful not to succumb to the siren call to create a super weapon or make any other changes that upset game balance. Plus there's all those nifty user mods you can install that people have crafted with the editor. My all time favorite is my Wizard's Tower, my current home. I wonder what future plans Bethesda has for the fantastic world of The Elder Scrolls... Last edited by TQ : 04-21-2004 at 08:52 AM.

| I hope the future for Morrowind is not one of being "dumbed down for the XBox". A couple more expansion packs would be great. "Someone is watching me, I'm sure of it." I don't want to spoil too much of the premenitions that are tossed at the player for KT, but that is a forshadow. Dagoth Ur and his followers do throw out dreams and thoughts. That is only one of them. |
