| KT - Be carefull if you go off the beaten path anytime. There are some bugs in the game where if you unknowingly do something that affects a future quest you may upset that future quest so critically it gets ruined and unplayable. It happened to me where I went into a seemingly distant and unrelated house killed the attacker in it and weeks later found out a future quest refused to allow me to advance because I killed that dude "out of sequence". Marandus - Most likely a future quest will send you there. You wil get sent to a Marandus type place later on in the Main Quest. As you get more and more into the game, the game senses your level and puts in the appropriate opponents. I like the most dangerous and challenging opponents. For that I recommend a full suit of glass armor and sword skills of over 80. At that level you can take on many unknowns and defeat them. The problem with magic skills is that many opponents have reflect magic back to sender defenses. If you follow the Main Quest you will meet many friends who will give you great magic items or send you on a quest to get a great and powerful object. And in those places you can search and find other lost unknown powerful objects too. After my experience of "ruining" future quests, I go with exploring and looting but not killing, and playing out the given quests. I killed too many chacters early that I wish I didn't. Fight and kill the creatures of the wilderness for skill If you do want to do Marandus now, try to find it in the Guide Book so you know what you can and shouldn't do this early in the game. It could be anywhere. You don't want to kill anyone in there you are sent to find in some future quest. I wish I could remember what went on in there but there is so much in Morrowind. Skill improvement - as you run from town to town always jump along the way. After I got the Boots of Blinding Speed I would take them off in Dwemer ruins and places where I would need the extra sight in the darkness of those places. Sometimes I would put the magic boots back on if I needed the speed for a battle there. You got a long way to go KT. Go get Dagoth Ur. |

| Sword skill of 80? I'm a LONG way from that....I'm not even sure I'm up to 20 yet. Actually....I'm using a blunt weapon...a magic staff of war I picked up somewhere.....it's been serving me a little better than the sword was earlier. |

| Oh yeah, catch me on IRC and I'll send you the huge Morrowind map file. Great to use the zoom feature on it. |

Definitely get your blunt weapon skill up to 100. And raise your short and long sword. Cross bow skills come in handy later too. Build that up by throwing stars at the birds.

Now I generally kill them with a fireball type of spell I have.....maybe I'll go get some stars and work on that. Can I retreive the stars once they're dead, or are they disposable?

| Stars, darts, arrows, and throwing knives - It will take a lot of them in the beginning to build up your skill. You can retrieve only one from your target. When your skill gets high it takes only one to kill. The ranged spells like the fireball or poison ball and a few others are nice but the problem is the advanced enemies can reflect them back at you. You need good solid non magika weapons for them. I loved using my paralyzing sword. I wack 'em once with it and paralyze them. Then switch to another sword so as not to dull my paralyzing sword and finish them off. The problem is the magika paralyzing spell would get reflected back at me and guess who gets paralyzed? A wack with the crossbow and down they go. If you use a crossbow arrow with magika, you have time to hide in anticipation of a reflection. And, sometimes with the Boots of Blinding Speed and a speed boost and my paralyzing sword I can sometimes be fast enough to dodge the spell reflection at close range. Now that's fun! |

Since you're a member of the Mage's Guild, check the "community chest" to see if there is a free to members "Cure Desease" potion in the chest. Or maybe someone has one for sale. It would be nice to know which desease you have because I think the potions are desease specific. I suggest you save your game before taking the potion. If it doesn't work then go back to the saved game and find another cure leaving that potion for another time. Or go to one of the temple alters and for a small fee the powers of the alter will cure you. Eventually somewhere in the Main Quest something happens that makes you immune to desease. But until then....

To quote Will from "Unforgiven": "It's a helluva thing killin' a man. You take away all he's got and all he's ever gonna have". And all you could get out of that particular quest, so it's best to carefully consider your actions before killing an NPC. However, you will get a warning if you kill someone that's instrumental in completing the main quest and a choice to go forward "in the doomed world you've created" or to reload a save game. By the way, one of the best lines all time follows the previous when The Kid says "Yeah well, I guess he had it comin' " and Will responds " We all have it comin', Kid"... | Thanks for the tips guys.....I had already figured out the disease thing by getting cured at a temple altar (I think I had a potion for it all along though.... This game is sooo cool.....It seems like it took forever to get to level 2 and now I'm already at level 4. I had this stupid quest form the evil steward lady of the Balmora mage's guild to guide this idiot to Pelagiad and get his notes...she "didn't care if he actually made it there"....so I took him with me into the Dwarfen ruins just outside of Fort Moonmoth and got tired of that because its now too dark to see now (need to get some candles or something)....anyway, this idiot can't seem to have the dexterity to make it back up the walkway to the top, so I just picked all his pockets and got the notes and left him in the ruins.... ![]() Now I have to go find some artifact that is some guy's skull. Weeeird......but in good way! Man....I REALLY need to get my weapons skills up....and maybe personality too....every merchant in Balmora hates my guts.... |
