I'm ******.

I've spent I don't know how many hours just wandering around building up my dood. I figure it's better to be stronger for the main quests, plus the world is HUGE and I like to explore.

Here I am, Numero Uno Wizard, fairly high Sword dude, lots o green shiny armor and a killer sword, most skills in the 60+ range and ready to start the main story.

So I wander in to Balmora to finish a blades quest and the guy I need to talk to is not in the damn guild where he's supposed to be. In fact, I can't find the pos anywhere. It's fubar'd, I just know it.

I got it in the bundle with my FX5900 and hadn't loaded it yet...looks like I may be spending some quality time in a new world tonight...

It is a big long game.

I believe so...shang-gar something or other in the mages guild. It's one of the early blades quests IIRC...

The Fighters Guild dude you need to see is Hasphat Antabolis. He is downstairs in the training room and sends you to the ruins just a bit outside the town limits of Balmera. This is the first quest for the Blades. Don't forget to go back to him to get the key he finds after youfinish his quest.

You must be needing to see Sharn gra Muzgob at the Mages Guild. She (I repeat "she") is downstairs to the left as you enter the downstairs room.

What's your short blade skill?

Tip: When you are awarded with an increase in attributes, always select Luck as one of the increases.

She should love it! Great value for the gaming dollar.

Get her to start a female character.

Don't get cocky. There's a freaking Wood Elf in Tribunal that makes Dagoth Ur look like a girly-man.

I was thinking about Morrowind....but the way you guys describe it make it sound like a LONG game.....I just like to get on and play for a bit for fun. That's why I'm partial to the shooters. I'm not really a "big gamer" like some of you.

With your descriptions, I'm not sure Morrowind sounds like its right for me. Can you just play in short periods?

Sure, there's lots of side quests to be done. However it'll suck you in and next thing you know the sun's rising.....

That's what I'm afraid of.

I generally "try" to use my time for work/coding if I can and am leary of getting into something that will "suck me in". That's exactly what I fear (because its easy to do with fun games). I like games that I can turn back off easily.

Of course one can play for any length of time one chooses. Morrowind gives you the option of saving anywhere and anytime you like. However, it is a very long game. Let me put it into perspective: I played the original Morrowind as much as a hour a day during the work week and up to five hours a day on weekends. It took me over three months to complete the main quest, Guild association quests (I was a Mage, a member of the Morag Tong and the Fighters Guild), the Daedric Quests and many of the miscellaneous quests.
Even then there was still much of the game world I had not visited. It was only after half a year that I finally had covered the entire map and even then when casually playing I would still come across a tomb or cavern that I had never seen.

It is...vast.
