Hmm... I fail to see the logic in that statement.

Actually the logic is correct. The grammer could be better but the statement is right on. If you are going to develop a character, explore the games culture, learn skils Etc that takes time. If you want to just get in and hack and slash or shoot em up play a fast paced game not a deep RPG. Nothing wrong with either, you make your own choice. Fast food or a good restraunt, 15 minutes or two hours, a time and place for each.

I say your comment is "right on"...however, I think the whole point of RPGs is to get into the story and learn the culture and world you are in. If you want quick and dirty hack and slash, then stick with the 1st person shooters.

RPGs are (almost by definition) the nice sit-down restaurants. There is plenty of fast food out there (Halo, Doom, Half-Life, etc....).

Ok, so I joined this just to get help with this one problem I'm having, if you learned people would be so kind as to assist. Here's my problem: I go to Mournhold, fight through all the assassins to the last guy, whatever his name is, kill him, look around, and leave. The problem is that I forgot to search his corpse, so I never got the contract, and by the time I went back, his body was gone. Could any of you help me somehow get that contract, even though my window of opportunity has already come slamming shut?

Oh, man, I never even installed the other expansion packs and played them. Morrowind itself takes forever to play as it is!

Folks are right about the game length. The more immersion factor, the longer the game play (and game value with playing the game over and over and over).

Morrowind doesn't have the fancy graphics, but the story and zillion side missions/grave robbing and little to no time limits, makes it a swell game to play over time (not all on one weekend).

There are two ways now since you missed the original opportunity.

Go back to a saved game. Or use the console command to give the contract to yourself. Look in the construction set for the game name of the contract.

It took me three months to play it through the first time. I remember weeks and weeks of endless gameplay.

After the bloom of Oblivion wore off (not that it isn't a great game) in retrospect I think Morrowind is the better game. Yes, Oblivion offers a lot of improvements over Morrowind as far as interface, graphics, A.I. behavior and more but Morrowind's main quest was much more interesting and there was just more to do and see in Morrowind than there is in Oblivion. Plus the replay value of Morrowind is greater, with more Houses and factions to join.

I remember someone asking me here at ABX of I thought it was a good idea for him to play Morrowind (he was an Oblivion player and hadn't done Morrowind) and I was at my most fascinated with Oblivion at the time and I told him going back and playing Morrowind would be a disappointment after the glory that is Oblivion.
Now, after completing Oblivion, I'd give him very different advice. I'd encourage him and any Oblivion player to go back and play Morrowind.
It's one of the best games of all time.

Agreed. Morrowind feels closer to Quest for Glory (from Sierra - an adventure game with stats) than other classic RPGs.
