I downloaded the DIRT demo last night and that thing brought my system to its knees...enabling AA really brought a huge performance impact...Crysis was much more playable then this...DIRT was unplayable at high resolutions for me...I know the game has high system requirements but geez that was awful...anyone else experiencing this?...I wonder if they optimized it better for the retail release or with subsequent patches

**I'm using Vista 64 bit

Re: Colin McRae DIRT anyone?

Hi polonyc2!

Played the game for some time yesterday, first time with the keyboard, still quite funny to play.

With the rig in my sig i have the resoltuion set to 1280x1024 (no AA or AF), everything else set to medium (i think those are the values DIRT suggested, except the res. was at 640x480) the game has about 50 - 60 fps during a race. It may reach up to 75 fps sometimes.
When i watch the replay the fps is around 45 - 55 fps most of the time, never below 40 fps.
With this settings the game looks fine for me.

I'm still using Win XP (Media Center 2005 Sp3) so maybe Vista 64 has something to do with your low framerate. (Or your definition of "high resolution". 1600x1200 with 16xFSAA?)

Greetings

Dru

yeah I was trying to play the game at 1920 x 1200 with everything maxed out...I finally got the demo to run at a decent frame rate but I had to turn off AA

I actually like the GRID demo better and I'm probably going to buy GRID when it is released in June...it's from the same studio that did DIRT (CodeMasters)

Re: Colin McRae DIRT anyone?

Already stumbled across GRID myself (and saw your thread about it).
The game looks promising and i'm downloading the demo right now.

Greetings

Dru
