Well... I haven't really checked to see if the LOD mods work since I have been a bit preoccupied but as I understand the only thing you need to do is just copy the textures folders into your data oblivion folder.

So I think you are correct that you don't see them in your data files menu. They should just work.

Maybe TQ can comment on this as he has seen the effect of these mods!

Edit:>> the only data files add-in you should see is the nomore annoying messages add-in....

Exactly yes. Just unzip the LOD files and that's it. Then load up any outdoor scene from any save file and voila!
Eye candy...
You should be able to see far off mountains and scenery and higher resolution textures that were previously not available. This is why your outdoor load times increase, because Oblivion is loading higher - and more - textures.
It's really quite a difference.

Have your load times increased for outdoor scenes?

Nope, no difference to anything, its like they're just ignored. I re-instated the original ini file in case the tweaks were the cause but no difference.

TQ would you post before/after shots so I can see the difference? Not even sure what I'm missing out on here.

Remember that there are VERY specific nvidia/ATI settings that you need to make in your drivers CP in order for these mods to work. Check out the tweakguides article on the specific settings. One thing is that you MUST disable all optimizations....

Ok installed the 84.25 beta drivers and bingo now the textures are coming up! Dont ask me why, but now I'm a happy camper! Didnt notice any difference with the frame rate.

Now about the INI file. Reason it wasnt working for me was because I was editing the wrong file

The INI file I was editing is in the game directory and is named something like ...default... and its the wrong one, the correct file is in \Documents and Settings\[User]\My Documents\My Games\Oblivion , a case of not reading the instructions properly because this is mentioned in the guide.

Anyway I applied all the relevant tweaks and it seems to run pretty smooth.

If I weren't such a dope I would have thought of that. The 84.25 betas contain some specific - I wouldn't call them enhancements - fixes for gamers running Oblivion on nVidia cards.
Good job, z...
