I feel for you... Just think of it this way: you could always go single 6800GT again and sell the other card. Prey still plays fantasticly smooth on 6800GT I'm sure !! It rocks on my 7800GTX but I'm sure it will still do great on 1 6800GT.

The game does run incredibly smooth after fixing the SLi problem with the demo. I can run whatever in the background without any stutters. It is actually litterally dizzing at times. I'm used to it now but yeah was a bit disconcerting at first.

I loaded it up Tuesday but haven't had the chance to play it yet. I've still got Titan Quest and HL2: Episode 1 to finish...plus I won't be back in Austin until late Friday.
Looks like it won't be 'till next week at the earliest...

Great game Prey but like the main character is saying: it is freaking me out. I actually had my first experience of feeling a bit sick after going up and down and up again... LOL... Great innovative idea though....

Also, this game rocks super smooth on my rig with everything maxed out 1600x1200... I could never run doom 3 or Quake IV like that...
Yeah thanks for making this thread a sticky! I do enjoy the game! If I could get through some of these conundrums a wee easier it would help.

LOL I actually like the fact that it is heavily puzzle based. For me they are hard enough to present a challenge without being completely impossible to me like say Myst type puzzles. At the same time it gives you a little breathing room to stop and look at graphics etc without being shot at for a moment. I'm actually not all that great with the shooting parts. I have a tendency to want to stay still to get a good bead and that doesn't work too well in FPS games. I am still very pleased with the game over all and I hope others enjoy it as much as I have.

Thank the good lord.....

A shooter without grenades is like a sandwhich with no meat.....

I had an AWFUL time loading the game------some sort of "Default Failure" as Disk one was loading.....

Seems some others have had it too according to the 3dRealms Tech site.

Had to copy all three disks to individual folders on my desk top----boot into safe mode-----then do setup from the disk one folder.

Seems to be fine-----but I haven't had problems loading a game for 4 years-----(lessen you count the pain in the a$$ STEAM was with HL2) -----thought that was all behind us now.....

Huh I would have figured it would have been on DVD only. First I heard of any trouble installing the game. On the grenade note. Personally I never liked grenades much in FPS games unless they are operated by the center mouse key like with FEAR. I never know when to switch or blow myself up with them. I guess you could call one of the weapons in Prey a grenade. They are actually these live spider looking things that crawl around and you pick up by walking over them. The right mouse key will flip them over in your hand to either make them proximity sensitive or regular time delay.

once you get the hang of the spirit walk thing the rest get easier though there are some others that are pretty tough. Again I can't wait to talk about it after most people have played it through. Still a little early for spoilers I think.

Yeah I'm going to work on the fresh air part or should I say the Va. 3 H air (hazy, hot, humid) I'm actually heading out to Va. beach this afternoon sometime. I would have left much earlier but I am going with my step father who is slower then a turtle on valium. Maybe you can show me a good place to get a beer? Good luck with the game!

Try the bar at the new Hilton on the ocean front....

Nice view inside or out----always a lot going on-----and my favorite----their are rockers right outside where you can just relax and watch all the different kinds of people go by----with a nice sea breeze.....

Horrible weather today though----better tomorrow.

John

I got the DVD version today without having to get the collector's edition. I got it for 45 euro. It also came in a normal size case. By normal size, I mean the size that movies come in. The package and instructions are in German but I am able to play in English. I guess you could say I cheated the system.

I am getting tired of games not being released in DVD without all the other crap that comes with the DVD version. Most modern systems that are required to play new games have a DVD drive. If the system doesn't have one, the manufacturer or the person that bought the system is a cheapskate.
