not really a Sim...but I hear a lot of good things about 'Sins of a Solar Empire' which is a multiplayer real-time space strategy game

This one in beta might be something for you to look at..

Several ABXers also are currently playing EVE, though it is a more mmorpg approach, while still filled with plenty of mayhem...free trial here

Ahhhhhhh ... FreeSpace 2 !!!

I was just considering doing it again.


If you want a Space Sim which is as close to the real thing as possible, then do Orbiter.
