| Hello. I am totally desperate. I have been building machines for 10 years and have never before suffered a problem like this one in my new machine. I am on Vista 64 ultimate, 4GB RAM. I have 650GB+ of diverse files on one of my hard disks. They include lots of movies and personal projects. After copying like 200GB from one disk to another and seeing that the directory synchronizer of Total Commander was giving me unreliable results on some file comparisons on I decided to try other compare software and I downloaded Beyond Compare. It revealed lots of fails also on the copy. I tried copying using the normal Windows Esplorer and got the same results. Then I decided to run some checks on some big random RAR files that I have and found that many of them DON'T PASS THE CHECKING!!! ![]() ATM I have no idea how much info I have lost. I just don't trust anymore the system to continue working. I am using the ICH9 onboard controller on RAID mode but the corruption problems are also present copying between non RAID drives. I detect them running the comparison programs after copying. I really don't understand what is happening. I have run Memtest 86+ during hours without a single fail and the BIOS is almost on its standard values. I am not overclocking anything. I have also run Prime95 on both cores for hours without errors. I have detected many problems while I was trying to update Vista, some updates were very difficult to install. I had to try several times. You can see my hardware configuration on my signature. What do you recommend me to do? I like to first put this machine in order before trying to check my data files again. I big appreciation goes to all you for your help. THANKS!

| The first thing that comes to my mind is to make sure all cables and parts are well connected. Especially the SATA cables. Remove and replace each cable and part three or four times to seat them well. The second thing that comes to mind is I hope your RAM modules are placed correctly. ASUS has had a few misprints in the user manuals lately. Look in the Asus user manual at the bottom of page 2-13 of the P5E3 Deluxe User Manual and compare it with the bottom of page 2-13 of the P5E3 Deluxe Wi-Fi User Manual. Which is the right RAM configuration? Also look at the top of page 2-16 of the Maximus Extreme User Manual. Does the second sentence make sense? ![]() |

| Re: Asus Maximus Formula and file corruption please HELP! The only thing that sticks out in my mind...is your memory voltage as well. If I am correct...Most PC6400 and PC8500 is rated at 2.2v. Yours is really running at 3V? Also, what version of memtest are you using? Should be 1.70 Also check the Asus Maximus Formula forums as well. Lot of issues with the latter bios releases from Asus ASUSTeK Computer Inc.-Forum- Good Luck Bob |
