Hmm this is only on the German site and not even on the Taiwan site yet. Not sure I want to mess with it.

BTW Maverick, how is your voltage oscillating with the -E version ? I remember I had a few issues with that on the P4C800 DLX -> for example 1.7v idle and sudden drop to 1.61 while loaded ..

It does not ocillate at all, ocillating is when it constantly changes voltage. I will say that yes idle its using 1.6v but under load its actually drops to 1.52 to 1.55 range but it says pretty steady while its there, no ocillating. Its running right in the spec range for the CPU so its staying cooler than my P4G8X Deluxe did because of the overvoltage problem it has.

the drop from 1.6 to 1.52-1.55 is not very good at all ...

Not really its fine. The normal operating vcore of the P4 3.06 is 1.55v so its regulating it right to where it needs to be. Even when I overclock it, it adjusts it to where it needs to be. I would say its doing its job.

Ok now that I have said that, are you using S-ATA Raid? From what I read in the post that eagleye62 put you can only install it if you have Raid 0 setup on the S-ATA ports.

I found this on Intel's website under FAQ's for IAA.

See it says that unless I use the S-ATA Raid 0 feature, IAA does not support the i875 chipset. It goes on to say that you could use the IAA 2.3 version on 800 Series chipsets but that does not support the 865 or 875 chipset either. So you need to use the Microsoft navtive storage driver built into Windows- Not sure if this is something you have to add or if it installed by default. I think its a default thing.

Now if your not using S-ATA in RAID then *** hehe ? DOH But your hardware list at the bottom of your sig shows "2 x 36.7GB Western Digital Raptror SATA (Raid 0) " so that would show the reason why you could install it.
Yes i'm using a ICH5R raid 0 setup. IAAR as u already know can only be installed with a raid array.

Question for you guys. In the BIOS, DDR voltage is applicable up to 2.85V.

On load, does the Asus board undervolt this voltage also as it does with the Vcore? The Vcore is known to undervolt, but what about the VDIMM?

Another question.

On the Abit IC7, there is an option in BIOS to set Active fan speed.

In other words, in order to have a quiet system, fans are set to 70% speed. There is another option in BIOS that allows you to set the fans to full speed if the temps reach or surpass your specified temp. So if I specify 60C, then the fans will kick into full gear at 60C.

Does the Asus board have such an option or feature? Does it behave alike the Abit board?

I have not really looked to be honest, I just installed this Thursday night and have not had a lot of time to play with it per say as far as O/C and so on. I will say that the board is not Undervolting the vcore. Its regulating it! Its supposed to run at that vcore! Why are you guys acting like this is a flaw. The flaw was the overvoltage the P4G8X and the P4P800 (so i have heard) do. The circuit is actually working right.

Asus uses a simuliar thing called Q Fan control or Quiet Fan control. Here is a link that explains what it does, and it does work but your CPU fan really needs to run off the MB 3 pin connector , the case fans will work but only the ones connected to the MB 3 pin connectors.

If you have an Antec P/S they also have 2 fan power control supplies that come off the P/S and control the fan speed based on what the P/S is sensing. Here is a link to the Q Fan information:
http://www.asus.com.tw/support/engli...res/q-fan.aspx

That link breaks it all down to you.

Is this the one on the German FTP? Also there is a new Promise ATA and Promise RAID driver out today as well.
