ASUS ROG Maximus II Formula motherboard

Here's the new P45 motherboard ASUS is coming out with. Note that it comes with an X-Fi PCI Express X1 soundcard, essentially eliminating the need to buy a soundcard.

[ Hardware.Info ] - ASUS ROG Maximus II Formula spotted

It looks like the board will be hitting store shelves next month.

Re: ASUS ROG Maximus II Formula motherboard

Why wouldn't they just hotwire a Xonar to the board instead of an X-Fi? A very odd move on the part of ASUS, considering the recent exchange of smack talk between the two companies.

You got me on that. I don't get why they wouldn't do a Xonar card, espicially considering that they don't get along with Creative Labs.

I wish I knew where that X48 ROG board was, or when it was coming out.

From what I've heard (I have personally not done the comparison), only ASUS provides an unprecidented amount of control of the motherboard via the BIOS starting with its X48 BIOS.

Looks like the X48 DDR3 ROG board is going to have a X-Fi sound card.

It doesen't have a X-Fi card, the old Supreme Audio II card is used, the same that comes with P5E, Maximus Formula, etc.

If this board was out, it would be listed on the ASUS website, and it isn't even listed.

I don't think any motherboard manufacturer can compete with DFI when it comes to BIOS options...if you're looking for maximum tweakability then DFI should be your only option

RaVeN_1 is thinking of the X48 DDR2 ROG board.

The DDR2 board does come with the old Supreme Audio II card. But now that ASUS has an X-Fi license, I suspect all new boards will come with the new ASUS X-Fi card as does the new board that is linked to in the first post above.
