| CUSL2-C to P4P800-X problems I used to have a CUSL2-C with a removable HD rack and a couple of different trays for the rack each loaded with an OS so I could swap them any time. Never had an issue, just shut down, change trays and boot up. CUSL2 died and I moved on to P4P800 and used same HD's (with fresh install) OS's. New system will not boot from OS on either of 2 HD's although it is identifying the drives correctly in BIOS. Booted fine from the second HD a number of times after install of OS, then 1st time I changed drives (in tray) won't boot from either. It is not detecting the HD's as boot devices. What is different between the 2 motherboards to cause this ? It just asks to "remove the disc's and press any key to restart", then asks "to reboot and select proper boot device". Help please ![]()

| Take a look and see if the BIOS settings changed on you for some reason? ![]() __________________ Visit and chat with the Buds at the #ABxZone channel on EFnet Internet Relay Chat If you don't have it then download mIRC from www.mIRC.com |

| Yes, I have been working on it and it appears to be a problem in boot priority. The last disc installed with OS (both XP Pro) is the only one listed and each time discs are swapped the priority changes and it can't find a bootable disc. Problem is even though BIOS is identifying both drives correctly only on disc is on the boot list. If I change this and continue it will boot through on both drives. But as soon as drives are swapped, back to boot error. Both drives are not current, IBM 30gig & WD 80gig. BIOS settings correct (tried all) at PATA. Still not identifying correct boot device. Assume must be a PATA/SATA issue as this M/Board is compatable with both. CUSL2-C only PATA. Any ideas how to get it to list both drives in Boot priority list ?

| You might have to set the BIOS Boot list each time you swap an OS drive using the hard drive rack. I only swapped data hard drives using my rack. My OS swaps were done internally. ![]() __________________ Visit and chat with the Buds at the #ABxZone channel on EFnet Internet Relay Chat If you don't have it then download mIRC from www.mIRC.com |

| So far the only way I can get it to boot properly is just that. The thing thats got me puzzled is that I have to set the boot to the WD drive to get it to boot with the IBM which makes me wonder if there is a CMOS problem. WD was the last drive installed with OS. Might have to try a new CMOS battery although board is only couple years old.

| Does not sound like a battery problem. It's a BIOS boot sequence thing. Quote:
