What operating system?

I had the same problem when using win me and the latest drivers from nvidia. Not only would it not restart after standby but when monitor went off in energy saving mode it wouldnt come back. Some versions of Detonator drivers gave me shut down problems as well.
I think detonator 6.34 was the best for me.
Good luck.
you can find them here.
