Hey Chile62 are those three systems identical? What are the serial numbers on the newest boards, are they still a 2?

I forgot to mention that I had occasional network problems. One minute I was online, the next minute I was unable to get a connection. After a shutdown or reboot, it appeared to be working normally. I cannot say with one hundred percent certainty that it was the lemon D875PBZ but I am about sixty percent certain it was the Intel errata daemons...

I also have Revision 2.

I'm still hoping that it's a BIOS issue (since I see no evidence that my memory is defective) so I'll keep updating when a new one comes out.
I'm also still waiting for a reply from Intel.
Hey TQ try running bios at default. The only way I know to get the board back to default is to jumper it for password broken. Cutom defaults sets mem to max. Try it after that. Also I would have PO9 installed and IAA 3.5. I looked through MrSteveo's WindowsXP installlation guide when I installed XP, some good tips in there. Boot to blank floppy then boot to Windows XP installation disc for a fresh start. Must have Windows SP-1a full installed right after XP, then DirectX9.0b, then video drivers. You are the only one still having excessive random boots I know of. I don't have them anymore and what I think fixed me was I ditched two of my four sticks of RAM and set clock/N1 to disabled. If you have 4 sticks this must be enabled. Don't use auto. If you have two set to disabled, don't use auto. Try that one.

Also I take it that most of of you probably already go to Windows update site and install all the critical updates. I think there is one pertaining to boot issues.

You may very well have something there Sandog, I didn't think about that as being a possible problem...but I set mine to disabled about the same time all my problems ceased to exist. I also disabled ASF support as well...Mine has run flawlessly for over two weeks now without one issue...I've tried to see if I could do something to cause a random reboot or lockup and I haven't been able to...Good Information!!!

Hey, how about if we all post or rev # and serial # to see if there's any correlation between the folks with problems and the folks w/o?

I'll start: Rev 2, serial # is BTBZ32404120

Only problem I've ever had with this board was that my first 10 attempts to flash from P05 to P08. After some help from my buds here at ABX I figured out how to do it correctly.

Other than that, this board has been 100% stable and glitch-free.

I always install all of the Critical Updates but I wait a day or two for the "early adopters" to run point and discover any bugs.

I am at work now. I'll check on the serial when I get home.

The first system was for a friend. A different video card there but otherwise the same specs. She has the A-I-W 9700 and mine is the 9700pro. It was her system that I first built and had trouble with so I installed the board meant for mine. Oh her system has 2 sticks of RAM = 1gig. Mine has 4 sticks = 1gig. So the board I had trouble with ran with 2 and 4 sticks of RAM.

realdieu - My board would act very similar, except maybe more erratic. If I could catch it in the act the link and activity lights would go out. There were some of my CAT cables that would not work at all with it.

I have two sticks. I set the CPC Override (clock/N1) to disabled. No resolution. Same issues persist.
Worth a try, though.

Also, I thought that IAA 3.5 was for RAID configurations only. I'm not running one.

Some other's that I have read about and found to work(am using now)

USB configutation:

Enabled
Enabled
High-Speed

I read this is the best off Intels site. I may have said disable High-Speed before if you don't have USB 2.0 devices.

Also have ISA Enabled. Not sure why but it works better. Maybe cause Audigy 2 has 16bit part. I know we have all 32-bit PCI slots

Board serial no.

Tried that, too. I disabled all the USB options one at a time and tested.
Currently I have restored BIOS defaults with the one change of manually configuring memory timings to 6-2-3-3.

I had a thought that perhaps I should remove my old HP USB External CD Writer. Haven't gotten around to that, though.

Others have mentioned LAN troubles. I haven't had any. I suppose I should take some small consolation in that.
