I have that to but didn't attribute that to the board. I have a Motorola SurfBoard SB4100 cable modem and I always see the Activity lite flashing even though I am not online. Also it seems to lock up sometimes when I'm online.

You may very well be correct. However, I have the Linksys Cable Modem and Router combination. I am not trying to beat-up on the D875PBZ. In fact, I have never wasted so much time on a motherboard in my life. I have been building these crazy rigs since 1992. The goofy stuff I mentioned is consistant with the D875PBZ. My last board was the Asus P4PE and NONE of these problems existed. In fact, all my gear is the same. The only difference is the motherboard, CPU, and memory. I do not believe it is the CPU and I know it is not the memory because I have tried different memory and these problems still exist. This leaves the motherboard... I am tempted to buy another one but my better judgement tells me to go with the Asus P4C800-E. Therefore, I am going to buy the Asus P4C800-E on Monday and 2 kits of Muskin's 1GB PC3500 Level II Dual Pack (2048MB) memory.

We have the Linksys Router. The wireless version. And a Toshiba Modem from Road Runner.

Lan Trouble

I have some Lan troubles from time to time. Motorola surfboard 4100, Linksys Router and Access point - but was not thinking it was the board.

Has anyone tried the new LAN driver posted on the Intel site for the board? Could this be a fix?

Well apparently it's Intels LAN software that causes the activity light to flash every second. I think it happens on all systems running LAN v8 software (it does it on the ASUS board to). Also I have been reading up on the threads for the new ASUS P4C800E and I don't think I will be swapping this board for that barrel of monkey's anytime soon. I will at least wait a month after Realdieu has had his and posted his findings on the new ASUS. Since he has had almost all the same problems with the Intel board as everybody else, he can say best if it's all fixed with the ASUS board.

Yeah my last board was the Intel 850E. The most stable trouble-free and fastest system I ever had and I had the BX chipset before to. I never had a good reason for ditching that system, I just wanted Intel's newest 800FSB processor, AGP 8X, and the CSA LAN.

I think some of the problems were seeing are comon with all 875P chipsets. I here alot of the same crap going on in ASUS board threads. I bet if I really relaxed memory timings and didn't use Burn in Mode I wouldn't even see any boot-lockups. The thing is, with the ASUS P4C800E you'll be using the same chipset, CSA LAN chip, and Intel drivers and you'll have a good chance to encounter the same problems IMHO. I am going to wait it out for new software and bios updates to make this board even better, I hope. Good luck with the new board Realdieu.

Still have one on my game machine. Best board I have ever owned. Totally hiccup free. Of course when I purchased it, it had been on the market for quite some time and was very refined.
Like you it was my favorite board since my BX-based P3B-F.
By the way, that P3B-F is still powering a computer we passed on to one of my nephews.

Sadly, you may be correct.

Because of all the headaches, I would normally skip this chipset and wait for the next. However, it would be nice to have a working rig... I am curious if there are only O1 and O2 revisions of the D875PBZ or an O3 planned or floating around.

Are you running burn in mode Ralf?
Nope. Running at default speed. I want stability, not speed or I would have bought a P4C800xx and OCed the snot out of it.

TO EVERYONE: Re: LAN stuff.

I'm using the onboard NIC with the drivers that were on the install disk. My light doesn't flash at all except when data is going in or out of it. I've never had any trouble with my LAN/NIC at all. I'm using an SMC Barricade.

I'm starting to feel bad that I (apparently) got a good board and everyone else got a dog.

Maybe it's the "BTBZ" serial number that's a later (improved?) version?

Whoever else hasn't posted your boards' Rev# and srial #, please post them with a short synopsis of your experience with it.
