The serial cable should be plugged into SATA 0 on the mobo for a single serial drive and make sure the jumper is set to primary drive or where it is suppose to be on the hard drive. Then go into BIOS and check and see if the drive is present. If it is try setting your ATA/IDE config. to legacy instead of the default 'enhanced' and below that set Legacy IDE channels to 'SATA P0/P1 PATA Sec'. That might work. You should have anything that says RAID disabled and for your boot drive you should see that drive and select it.

Good luck!

Thanks, I hope it helps.

Well I am up and running with the XT. Didn't hit the 27K in 3DMark like I was hoping, got 26,131. It is over 2K more than what I had with the Pro. In 3DMark2003 I hit 12.5K. Got a couple of pics. I put the heat sinks on using a T-square and lined the fins up narrow side being verticle so air will flow better from Zalman fan extender. Pretty easy job although it was harder doing it with the water hoses already attached to the water block. I made sure the card worked before I did this but I did not take a look at the core temp before removing the stock heat sink. Now I am at 35C core temp. Exos went up 1C at idle and sits around 31C now. I really want to get the Aerocool fans for the side especially the aluminum ones so they do not bend. The 80mm I have on top the video card does not blow air like my Exos fans. I touched my regulator heat sinks when I had the new card running in there and no Zalman Fan Extender and I burned my finger. I am thinking about a 120mm now on the ZFE. Anyway, tomorrow is monitor day and I still have Acronis to mess with.

LOL, did he mean 3.0C = 30 caps;

Anyway, the manual that can be downloaded from Intel's website thoroughly explains all the header pins for hook-up to the front panel buttons/LED's.

Congrats on the new board and good luck.

Well I got a reply from Logitech support that this mic is available for purchase. Free shipping from BB for $19.99. It has the regular 1/4" mic plug and has a mute button right on the mic. Suppose to have quality pick-up plus the color matches my other stuff (most important). Now I can get rid of the free-beige mic I got with my old SB II card.

Well I am off to the house to open my new Dell 2001FP monitor.

Bwahahahahahahahaha!!

My thoughts exactly. Maybe it's just me, but normal English just isn't all that hard to type out. Or is it just me?

I was talking to someone in this thread about the security of your personal information on the net and elsewhere’s. There is a lot of thievery going on on Ebay and online banking. I don't think the police can even keep up with all the crapheads and they know it and once they get your money, kiss it goodbye. I just went to Best Buy to place and order and they already had my full credit card no. on record. I immediately notified them and they said I can check box for not having my address on record but to remove the CC# all I had to do was change my password. Just want to let you people know who do a lot of online purchasing like me that if resellers have your CC# you might want to try changing your password.

Here's some before supper-monitor unpacking pics. Excellent quality monitor sofar. A small button on the base releases the weight-balancing pole. Very well built feel to it. Monitor also swivels 90deg for portrait and the screen comes off very easily with the push of a button also.

Front

Rear

Main connectors (has aux. USB ports on the side)

Base lowered

Base telescoped

Base underneath

Woot (more cables)

Will have some electrons flowing this evening and some more shots. Any bets on how many bad pixels?

Edit: Fixed base underneath.

Let's hope......none. I was pleasantly surprised when I bought my Hitachi to see that it had zero dead and/or stuck pixels. Nada. I bought it from MonitorsDirect.com, and they have a downloadable utility on their site to check for such things (basically, a full white, black, red, and green screen).

Congrats on your purchase, Sandog! Looks very nice.

Well I got the monitor running. I only had one bad pixel and it went good after about an hour. I at least got to see what one looked like and it was real discernable so I know that I do not have anymore. I took a pic of it which was a ridiculous idea, you could not see it unless the pic was very high resolution. I’ve got the only display selected in properties (FPD) and I used the INF’s off the Dell CD for monitor support. I am still using 1024x768/75Hz right now but I’ve had it at 1600x1200/60Hz. I am using the DVI cable of course. The brightness and contrast are at 50 and I turned the brightness up 5 points, contrast was not adjustable. Controls seem OK, the Plus one appears to have two levels or else it is a little hosed (haven’t read the manual). S3 works the same as before even with the DVI cable but the video input selection LED on the monitor stays on (bright green) as well as the power LED going to a dim yellow. Also I have two unknown devices in hardware that are Radeon XT related. Couldn't get rid of them at all. I have the both Radeon devices showing in display adapter fine. I had to uninstall drivers and run the ATI uninstall utility then reboot in Safe Mode and run the ATI utility again. I still had a 9600 card driver in there before. I did this twice and still the two unknown Radeon devices. Everything works fine though.

So far I am happy. Happy because it works 100% especially only 1 bad pixel and now it is working. I know I have to get use to this LCD monitor though. The monitor is bright but it is not the glassy clear bright you have with a CRT display. Anyway, here are a couple of pics before I go off and join a clan scrimmage. That will be the next big test, how the monitor does in a 10 person clan match in UT. Will I see ghosting? (I hope not).

Back from playing some UT. I did not see anything out of the ordinary. Just really really good graphics. The game looks a lot better than the desktop. Could be too much of a good thing with the XT card and all card settings maxxed in the game. My game sucked though and I think whats throwing me off is having a larger screen and I am at the same resolution. I guess I will just have to suffer and get use to the speed and display size. Why is it always me?

Congrats on the new monitor Sandog, 20" sure gives you some impressive real estate to play with Even though I prefer to use 1024 for everything, after a day I gave it up for clarity sake, and set it back to 1600 However after two weeks of trying every font/dpi setting, found XP's 144dpi(150%) to be the best. I simply adjusted the other desktop fonts accordingly, and now it just seems 'normal'. The only downside is some web pages are still set for viewing at 800x600 only, so they look rather puny, but thankfully most sites in my Favourites folder, appear to have web designers that actually know what they are doing, and allow their pages to 'scale up' quite nicely Anyway enjoy your new bigscreen toy
