The purpose of the splash screen is to allow you to see if your audio is working and what level it is at when you start windows. It's easy to disable. But they do have something going with AOL because it puts an AOL link in Start, Desktop, Programs, Favorites, and Links.

Doesn't windows do that itself? And why does it have to splash "Creative" across the screen? Did the installation ask if I wanted that? Why not a check box that says "Do not display in the future"? It's just an arrogant advertisement for CL. What makes them think I want to see that every time I start the computer?

The AOL thing is also a problem. AOL has agreements with everyone! I get it in the mail, I get it with installations, it's in magazines, if you buy a computer from Dell or Gateway, it's all over the thing. There's no escape. It's freakin' SKYNET.

Intel875 bsod

well the Audigy2 drivers install now, but i still get BSOD at random whenever i bootup winXP

heres one of them..

Bad_Pool_Caller

Stop: 0x000000C2 (0x00000041) 0xFA95E000,0x00000000,0x0003FF2F

does anyone know how to debug that stop code to find out *** is causing it?

the OS is stable.. no crashign within winXP.. this only happens when i boot.. on of off.. meaning 1 of 5 boots is a BSOD

I have P12 now and don't see that bug at least.

Also my Audigy is the one thing that has not given any trouble. Installed drivers form CD without the bloat.

Funny, I had posted earlier that with P12 that the post screen would take a long pause with code 075 in the lower right screen. Plus XP would fail to load on the first try. Flashed back to 05, still had the pause but XP would boot ok. Except it takes longer to load. Flashed back to P12 now it does not pause at post and XP has a 3 to 5 second pause right after post. (blank screen with cursor)

One thing I think has made a difference with P12 is setting my memory back to 333MHz.

alucadrx - that's posted way back Rev 2, Serial #AZBZ32305121

Aight..

about the bios freeze issue..

i forgot to mention i have a M$ Internet KB Pro keyboard
it has PS2/USB wires all in one.. like a Y cable

now.. my logitech mouse is plugged into the KB USB port..
and KB uses only PS2 port..
now i left USB Legacy disabled BUT unplugged the mouse from the USB port on the KB.. and bingo..
Hardware Monitor was accessable again, and the board didnt freeze
BUT if i plugged the mouse back in and rebooted and got back into the bios and trying to acess hardware Monitor, again it would freeze..

so yeah i guess its another bug

No, it's not just your motherboard. Mine does this as well. If USB legacy is enabled, I can get in fine. If it is disabled, the system locks up.

This behavior is not present if my MX700 mouse is not attached to the system. I have contacted Intel about this and they supposedly turned it over to their development team.
