i forgot to mention i have a M$ Internet KB Pro keyboard
it has PS2/USB wires all in one.. like a Y cable

now.. my logitech mouse is plugged into the KB USB port..
and KB uses only PS2 port..
now i left USB Legacy disabled BUT unplugged the mouse from the USB port on the KB.. and bingo..
Hardware Monitor was accessable again, and the board didnt freeze
BUT if i plugged the mouse back in and rebooted and got back into the bios and trying to acess hardware Monitor, again it would freeze..

so yeah i guess its another bug
You are not the only one with this issue, I think Riptide has it as well. Funny I have a Logitech USB keyboard and mouse and have not seen it.

edit: Beat me to it Rip.

does anyone know how to debug that stop code to find out *** is causing it?

the OS is stable.. no crashign within winXP.. this only happens when i boot.. on of off.. meaning 1 of 5 boots is a BSOD
I'm about 95% certain that the "Bad_Pool_Caller" BSOD is just a BIOS P12 thing. I've had it happen to my test system ever since I flashed to P12 about 10 days ago. I have no peripherals on this board. All that's hooked up is PS/2 (MS) mouse and PS/2 (Dell) keyboard, HDD, FDD, DVDrom, ATI 8500 and 2 x 256MB of Mushkin Level II PC3200.

I finally gave up on P12 yesterday and flashed back to P05. Haven't had a Bad_Pool_Caller BSOD yet and I've started & restarted at least 25 times. With P12 I would have expected at least 2 or 3.

BSOD BAD_POOL_CALLER

i have one of the original ABZ boards or whatever, and i installed P12 i still get no PAT enabled and with this update i get a BSOD saying BAD_POOL_CALLER quite frequently. From P6-P11 i had no problems with the BOSD problem but when i hit P12 there it was. I also had a problem running nero ver. 5 when i had the P05 bios installed and it would cause my computer to flat out restart if i opened up nero or burned a couple of cds almost everytime. The problem sort of went away with Nero 6 but i think it was still the motherboard causing the problem. Anyway what bios update do you guys recommend as the best so far, considering i cant use P12 cause it gives me that stupid error when i reboot. I wish intel could just make a freakin update that corrected all these stupid errors once and for all.

By the way thx for the old bios revisions i was looking all night for them and u guys hooked it up with the links.

Quick Question on MEmory

I have 1gb of the Samsung dual channel DDR400 Memory (4x256mb modules) and i just switched back to good old bios P05 and it says my PAT is disabled do i have to manually set the memory settings to get it enabled i have it all on auto config in the bios. And does anyone know the recommended settings for this type of memory int the bios ive been reading 6 2 2 3 is a good setting but those setting seemed to be for the corsair memory so im not sure what i should set it at, i believe the memory is PC-3200 but not absolutely sure. Anyway when i looked in the bios under my mem setting the auto config had it at 8 3 3 0 is that faster or slower then 6 2 2 3. The major issue im wondering about is why PAT is still not enabled after i flipped back to P05 seemed to work for everyone else only think i can think of is i dont have my memory set the correct way.

i have Kingston Valueram (samsung chips)
timings are 3-3-3-8CL-1T (SPD)
and i get PAT enabled only if i use P05 bios
all other bioses have it disabled
and ive noticed in Sandra too, with PAT (bios P05) i get like 100megs/sec more bandwidth than with P12 Pat disabled

ya that sounds great

I just need your help real quick with the timings, (3-3-3-8CL-1T (SPD)) are these in order is it possible for u to tell me what each 3 is so when i go into the bios i make sure i set the correct settings. And what does 8CL mean? also what does 1T mean?
Thx im kinda new to this.
and i notices there are two other options above the timings that you can control what should i set them too the one said agressive and and manual user defined or something

what do you have set for CPC Overide and SDRAM Frequency?
my auto settings go from 8-3-3-3 in order from top to bottom in the bios. is this what i should have because if i have it on auto it still doesnt enable PAT
