If you have a 3.06 P4 your buss will default to 533MHz and I don't think PAT is suppose to be enabled.

Strife2101, I believe Sandog is correct. You are running a P4 3.06 GHz processor. PAT requires a "CPU and system memory on 800-MHz FSB and Dual Channel DDR 400 configuration."

http://www.intel.com/design/chipsets/pat.htm

The P4 3.06 runs at a 533Mhz FSB (Front Side Bus)

From P6-P11 i had no problems with the BOSD problem but when i hit P12 there it was. I also had a problem running nero ver. 5 when i had the P05 bios installed and it would cause my computer to flat out restart if i opened up nero or burned a couple of cds almost everytime. The problem sort of went away with Nero 6 but i think it was still the motherboard causing the problem. Anyway what bios update do you guys recommend as the best so far, considering i cant use P12 cause it gives me that stupid error when i reboot. I wish intel could just make a freakin update that corrected all these stupid errors once and for all.

By the way thx for the old bios revisions i was looking all night for them and u guys hooked it up with the links.
Yeah, I got my first BAD_POOL_CALLER BSOD this morning on boot as well. All this certainly points to the P12 BIOS.

I would juse use the highest BIOS that you had no problems with (P11? Where'd you get that? Last release was P09 I believe), since it wouldn't be as big of a deal to use P05 since you CPU FSB doesn't support PAT. Then wait for future BIOS releases.

I had a problem as well with my "Blindwrite Suite 4.5" CD Ripping software and read about the Nero problems that you and others were having with this chipset. I use Record Now Max and Alcohol 120% and have had no problems with these programs.

Explain why PAT shows as enabled on my system, which uses a 533FSB processor.

DOH! Forgot about you Riptide! All hail the Golden Child!!! He has PAT enabled with a 533 bus!! Ha

And I assume that your memory is running at 333, yes?

EDIT: I suppose the only difference between your CPU and Strife2101's besides clock speed is that Strife's has Hyper Threading. The only 533 FSB Processor with Hyper-Threading at the moment, I believe.

Yes, a good observation there (my system lacks the HT).

My Mushkin PC3500 L2 is running at DDR333 speeds. Timings are 2-3-2-6. PAT shows enabled whether my system is in burn-in mode or not. I run it at the +4% setting normally.

intel tech sucks

i got an answer to my email from Intel, about me telling them about the Rebooting at random and BSOD with bios P12 and P07..

and here is what INTEL had the nerve to tell me!

Thank you for contacting Intel(R) Technical Support.

The issues that you are describing appear to be memory related, the timings of the memory are perfectly fine but it appears that it is the source of the instability.

If you have more than one memory stick, we will need you to please try with only one stick of memory and if you only have one stick, it will be great that you can try a different one. This could help with the hardware monitoring issue too.

The Intel(R) Performance Acceleration Technology (PAT) cannot be disable, Intel(R) is aware that some utilities will detect it as it is disable and we are working directly with the developers of the utilities on this issue to understand it. It is not possible to disable PAT on the Intel(R) 875 chipset.

Please do not hesitate to contact us again if you need further assistance.

Sincerely,

Erick B.
Intel(R) Technical Support

and i just email them back saying i tried different ram, and that alot of other ppl are having the same issues..
id like to see what their next response will be! hah
