Sand:

Have you read the information I provided earlier and the following quote:

Quote:
The easy and unequivocal way to find out is to run cachemem and look at the latencies. If the highest latencies are around 100 ns, PAT is working, if they are above 130 ns, it is not. You may have to re-run cachemem a few times if you have stray results.

The numbers shown are cpu cycles so you need to divide them by the GHz value of your CPU, e.g. 270 cycles / 3.0 = 90 ns.

If you were running a 3.0 GHz CPU, I say that PAT is definitely enabled, otherwise, your numbers would be in the 450'ies, if your CPU is any slower speed grade, it would become more difficult to judge.

I ran Memory bench with several different settings in my bios. I compared these to the results of the mem test to a P4 3.0 512MB board and I only barely beat it when I had the fastest mem settings and was in burn in mode +4%. That ain't right. And like everybody else Sandra said no PAT enabled.

Hey realdieu, if you get a minute, take a look at this:

Is PAT why 865/875s Don't Like 2,"2",2, 6?

I'm kind of chewing on the bigger picture here. Either that or pssing in the wind.

Mike.

Yeah I tried Cashemem and posted. My writes and reads are within specs but other things bug me. Like my benches at default are less in Sandra than the reference benchmarks and that none of these programs ever show PAT is enabled on an Intel MB.

SpecMike that makes alot of sense. I wish we had some kind of concrete way of enabling or disabling PAT in BIOS and having it show on the post screen. Sorta the way it's suppose to.

Reply from Intel on PAT/875

All,

here is a reply from Intel Tech support. Now, Im not sure I believe this, but this is what they say about PAT. Is there any way to verify this claim? Does anyone have any bright idea of an interesting question to ask next?

"Hello Greg,

Thank you again for contacting Intel(R) Technical Support.

For further verification regarding your inquiry, please take into
consideration that the only two requirements for the Intel(R) Performance Acceleration Technology are to have an 800 MHz front side bus present in the processor currently installed in your system board. The reason for this is to take advantage of the actual DIMM frequency of DDR400 memory modules, which is the second requirement. Other than these two conditions, there are no other special system requirements to make PAT mode
work.

As explained in my previous message, the Intel(R) Performance
Acceleration Technology (PAT) is always enabled. It just depends on the proper combination of the front side bus of your processor along with your system memory, for this feature to be actually enhancing your system performance.

If you continue to experience difficulties, please reply to this
message and we will try to assist you further.

Sincerely,

Andrew S.

Yeah that sounds exactly like one of their "Ready for Prime Time" answers. I think before they release a new product they script the answers to most any scenario that could occur with it

Hey Miles, can you check out this thread for me. As an Intel user with your "background" I know you will ferret out the answer. Sorry for hijacking this thread but it's bothering me I can't find that answer. Now, back to the regularly scheduled programming.

How do you retrieve the older bios from Intel?

Thanx, Mike.

Hey Miles3c, I deleted that post because I couldn't find a way to post Intels WEB mail they sent me. First time I ever got an email like that. It had some good documents in it I wanted to share.

Does anyone have any experience with Geil and the D875PBZ? I bought 2 x 256 of Corsair 3200C2 before I knew that I was getting the D875PBZ. Now I was thinking of RMAing the Corsair and getting 2 x 512 of Geil PC-3200 Value for the same price (special at Newegg). The Corsair seems like a waste on a board that won't be OCed.

Is this a good idea?

I get the same 3DMark2001 score (13100), and the same SandraMAX Mem Score (47,000) regardless of wether I use 3-3-3-8 DDR400 modules or 2-3-2-5 DDR400 modules on my D875PBZ with a 2.60C P4. WHAT DOES THAT MEAN? Is this PAT in action? Should I sell my seemingly worthless uberexpensive "2-2-2-5" modules? LOL! It's not like they're slower or less stable.

OK. noob on this fourm. Hi all. Is there a way to oc the FSB on these 875's. I just got mine, and have it running very stable @ 6-3-3-2,@ 400 DDR. scoring about 14,200 in 3dmark2001/300.

system specs:

2.8C
Intel 875pbzlk
flashed bios to p-08's
2x512 XMS 3200LL
ti4600
Thermatake spark7 HSF
4 WD 7200 80 gig HDDS, (not raided)- promise board on 2 of them.

I also noticed that in my report, it is saying PAT is reserved. Never heard of that one.

It looks like the D875PBZ may be getting a new BIOS this week. On Intels site the Springdales just got a new BIOS with lots of fixes. Two of the more interesting ones are a new RAID ROM BIOS to support RAID 1, plus an interesting update to the firmware of the MCH controller (Northbridge)

Since the RAID ROM is a feature promised by the new IAA v3.5 drivers, and since Intel already has it out for the Springdales, Im betting the Canterwood gets its BIOS update soon too.

Hey Steveo do you have to have the rom bios upgrade to use IA 3.5? All I wanna do is run my Raptors in RAID 0 but I want the 3.5
