| S3 is a deep level of Sleep also known as standby Control Panel ---> Power Options ---Advanced Tab When I press the sleep button on my computer ---> standby ... apply Device Manager ---> keyboard ---> properties ---> power tab allow this device to take system out of standby Device Manager ---> mouse ---> properties ---> power tab allow this device to take the system out of standby Reboot... when you hit the sleep key on your system... system goes to sleep in about 4 seconds when you hit the mouse or keyboard the system wakes up in about 4 seconds. No more long boot However With windows xp and windows 2003 server the system does not enter the deep S3 sleep state if you allow USB periperals to wake the system up but only the lighter S1 stage... in the S1 stage cpu fans keep running yuck... See Microsoft KB article 841858 Run Regedit Make the following entry: HKLM\System\CurrentControlSet\Services\usb\USBBIOSx DWORD=x'00000000' Reboot Now when you hit the sleep button your cpu fans go off as well |

| Good enough of a recommendation for me. I'll go check it out on their website and order one from NewEgg if they carry it. Update: I think that's the one I have on the 3.0c now. If memory serves I bought it at Comp USA, so I might be able to get it locally.

| Actually one of the things I was impressed with on the D975XBX .305 was how well it stood by and resumed. Lightning fast and stable even after several hours.

| Oh S..t I'm jinxed Right after I tell you guys that I was having no problems with s3 My system decided to start up about 7 times on its own. But I don't think it is a S3 problem, but rather one with static. When my system is in S3 I can move my mouse without waking {as long as I don't click any buttons} But if I shuffle my socks on the rug, and then rest my hands on the wooden table, the system wakes!
