Regading the latest Intel matrix drivers (F6 Install Disk) you actually have to
press F6 key, when you booting from the MS CD, then manually sellect the
ICH7 Raid Driver for Desktops (cant remember what it says exctly but its
vey similar to that) once you have selected specify other and the menu
comes up. The original dsk will autoload but the new driver dont. You have
to manually select it.

Good luck

To recap: quad-core processor, d975xbx2 mobo, 4gb ram, 800W p.s., nvidia7300gt graphics...
Problem: A cold boot will sometimes, not always, give me a 3-beep 'no memory' code. Removing any two sticks from any two slots gives a successful boot. I can then shutdown, re-install the two sticks I removed, and boot successfully.
I've tested the ram with memtest86+ and Passmark; no errors
Intel is giving me boilerplate responses to test the memory; from what I can tell, they have no interest in my problem.
I tried sandogs voltage adjustments; no help.
I've always found user forums to be far better help than corporate sites. I'm still hoping that someone here will think of something I missed or have a test suggestion.
I'll probably end up getting an Asus board.

Thanks for the information Sandog..
Very Interesting...so it seems that the "default" set voltage is Always 1.325V on the BA2.. I like this much more than the BA1 method.
Now there is no question to what the voltage really is set to as the clocks are changed.. its always 1.325 when default is used... and it is up to the user to manually change it if desired/needed...

Oh, and Excellent on obtaining x13 at 1.325V !!! I can only reach x12 at that voltage setting with my x6800/BA1.

What kind of memory did you get and what timing/voltage settings are you using?

Microscopic icons & fonts

Audio seems to work anyway, but Intel Audio Studio is inaccessible, and clicking the complaint at each boot is bad news.

Any fix, allowing big icons & fonts AND working Intel Audio Studio?

Thanks,

I had a couple typos above: should read Normal Size (96 DPI) ... anyway ...

Am I the only one who needs larger print on a hi-resolution monitor?

If it's necessary to uninstall Intel Audio Studio in order to read my monitor, which audio version should I install? I suspect I want
"5.10.5280_XP32_XP64_MCE_2K_AC97FP_STACGUI.EXE: Audio driver with support for legacy AC97 front panel header plus the Sigmatel software interface"

Will appreciate input before making this change.
I dislike uninstalling/reinstalling stuff, because it causes hardening of the registry arteries.

I had assumed it would at good volume with amplification, but it did not, at least with cheap speakers.

My only solution was to abandon Windows 2000, which I wanted to use, and get XP.

Intel claims the XBX2 works with W2000. For onboard audio, they are liars.

Sandog
The memory is good. All 4 sticks thoroughly tested. Set to default per manufacturer recommendations. Also tested with various settings supplied by corsair.
The board is buggy. A piece of Shi'ite. I gave up on help from Intel; now I'm waiting to hear back from Corsair.

bios hang

Hi guys
I’m having a problem with my bad axe 2 hanging on a black screen at startup for 35 sec (exactly) before it gets to the screen where I can hit the f2 key to go into setup. It just started happening a few weeks ago. I have the latest bios from Intel BX97520J.86A.2507.EB. The computer still boots up into windows vista just fine and it is very stable. Any ideas why this is happening.

Thanks Sean

Well I got Windows Vista up and running well this weekend. The upgrade workaround works perfectly. There are some annoyances such as getting asked every time I try to open a file but she's running good and fast. No Intel Audio Studio yet, my scanner is now garbage, and I had to use a different set of printer drivers to get my printer working. I am expecting an additional 2GB's of RAM today or tomorrow.

There is apparently a work-around for that:

Thanks TQ,

There is something I need to stop running and maybe this is it, I'm not sure yet. A buddy of mine has done things like this to Vista already so I need to talk to him I guess. There is a lot to get familiar with. I like it a lot so far. Vista runs faster right now than XP did as far as I can tell. I am running 32bit right now.

Yay! I finnally got my Bad Axe 2 today . Not quite sure what Im gonna do with my Bad Axe I just yet, maybe turn it into a cruncher.

OK now the real fun starts, I need to backup my 700Gig Raid to somewhere
Got a few 120Gig IDE's lying around so Ill span my stuff around. What a
mission. Anyway suppose its for the best, I mean YAY I got my Bad Axe II
today.

Im really hoping this Marvell Raid does Raid 5 over 4 drives. I emailed Intel
about a week ago regarding this, still no reply. So I guess I just got too
anxious and picked up a Bad Axe II from Rectron. Its funny thought that
it was cheaper that my Bad Axe I, I paid R2040 for Bad Axe I and R1850
for Bad Axe II.

Wish me luck guys, Ive seen some pretty unlucky dude here, with some
wierd issues regarding Bad Axe II.

Oh by the way, anyone know whats the Latest Bad Axe I rev. I got a 505
Where can I see the differences between revisions?

Angry

ARRRGHGGHGH,

I am so $#@&!*# ****** off.
Ive just spent 2 days battling installing my new Bad Axe II.
What a mission. Firstly my ATI X1800XT works perfectly on my
BX1, just tested it. If I put t in the BX2 nothing, no boot no bios.
Slap in a spare 6600GT and no problems, then I tried a Differentslot for the ATI and wham it boots... but only at 8x. Then I tried it in slot 1 again and
nothing.

Now here is the really wired part... If I Leave the ATI in Slot 1, and put the
6600 in slot 2, then the BX2 boots, ***.

Also, after reading the Intel Manually very carefully, it DEFINATELY SAYS
that if I put 3 or more drives on the Marvell Raid, it will do Raid 5. Well it
doesnt, the manual is lying. It only does Raid 0, 1, and 10.

Oh boy is Intel gonna hear from me.
