| BIOS updates are no longer available. http://www.intel.com/products/motherboard/d975xbx2/tools.htm Hope this is temporary. Intel did have two seperate links for BIOS and drivers that each showed both so maybe they are just in the process of straightening out the web page. Sandog |

| Does the BX2 Board support the next FSB1333 CPU's ?? I ordered a Gigabyte DQ6 Board, but now i heard from the PCI-E 1 Bug! So i think about to cancel my order and order the BX2. It's not clear if it's a 965P Chipset problem, so i think the 975x is well engineered. But i don't know if the 975x has a long future...

Hi Tenchi Muyo, The BA1/2 ICH7R chipset officially supports up to FSB1066 but the BIOS will let you strap the FSB for either 800/1066/1333/1600. I believe when Intel says 'officially supports' this means this is the frequency the chipset was certified at but it can go higher. Sandog | |

| Has anybody had any problems with TigerDirect.com? They have the D975XBX2KR for $199 now for the retail boxed version. I'm thinking of snagging it and 3 of the 20" Samsung LCDs ($289 ea. after mail in rebate) NE has the Corsair DHX XMS2 Twin 2X2048 6400C4D for $213 (after $40 mail in rebate). Seems like this would make a nice start for a new build. Well, new for me that is :-)

| When I purchased my Bad Axe II, I sure thought about Tiger Direct compared to NewEgg, but I stayed with NewEgg because I have read where Tiger Direct's customer service sucks if you have problems. I had a problem with them myself years ago and it appears they have not learned anything yet. To have low prices, you have to cut corners somewhere, and I think I know where they did it. I purchased memory from Zip Zoom Fly as they were much cheaper than the Egg. This was just over a month ago, and I am still waiting for them to return my phone messages and e-mails because of problems with the shipping and FedEx. FedEx lost the shipment and Zip Zoom Fly has to file the claim, and I couldn't. I had to get my credit card company involved. They will have to listen to them. They are probably fine if you have no problems, but if you have problems, forget it. I have had very good results with the Egg.

| Thanks RJ. I was reading thru this thread and it looks like NE was price gouging a little. But i too have had very good luck with them. I only had one occurrence thru all the times i bought from them. It was a new Seagate 320G that came DOA. I talked to a live person who apologized, and sent out a new drive overnight. Whenever their price is right, i buy from the egg as much as possible.

| D975XBX2 Boot Order Problem Hi, Iīm having a strange problem. I changed my computer motherboard to an Intel BX2 but I can not change the boot order in the bios. I have three sata drives connected in the black connectors, a DVD Writer connected in the ATA and another PATA drive connected as slave in the same ATA connector. If "boot from optical drive" is enabled the computer boots from the optical drive. I can not change the boot option to Hard Drive. If I disable the boot from the optical drive option, the only hard drive I can boot from is the PATA drive. The only way I found to boot from a SATA drive (drive 0 only) was to disconnect the pata drive. | You SHOULD be able to change the boot order or keep any drives from booting at all. I disabled the floppy boot for example. It confused me for a second because i was used to using the up and down arrows to switch order on my Fatality board but with the BX it's the +/- keys (I think)

| While I'm here, Has anyone had experience getting the Bad Axe 2 sound to play nice with a 4.1 speaker system? I've been fooling with settings in the Intel Audio Studio with mixed results. The different settings are a nightmare to keep track of. The help documents on the Intel site say to use a different port for the rear speakers and to "retask" the port with the software. Danged if I can find where retasking any of the ports is an option. Using the 4 speaker settings and ports, I can get vairous types of "broken" output like no sound from the rears when playing an MP3. Settings that fix that cause the loss of the L and R Main channels when playing a DVD. I think the center channel is played through the mains however. There's no sound when someone is speaking from the left or right side of the screen. Also noticing that much of the rear speaker output (when it's there) is distorted, scratchy, intermittent...etc. Strangley enough the speaker test signal from the Audio studio sound great. If I play an MP3 with no sound from the rears and test the rear speakers with Audio Studio the music is also played throught the rears with the test sound and sounds quite clear. I've been baffled by this behavior to the point of preparing to stuff my old SoundBlaster Live PCI in the machine so I don't have to deal with this foolishness. Use a Klipsch Pro Media 4.1 speaker system. Thanks in advance |

| After you hit the enter key to open the drive order submenu. Highlight the drive you want to move with the arrow keys and then hit either + or - to move it up and down. I have a BX1 but I doubt that part is any different.
