| Nice job! I had not seen either one. Yup, still first generation and running like a champ. Been a year since I chaged fluid and it is time to do that again. If it aint broke, don't fix it. The only thing(s) broke right now are the drivers/program for the CDRW on all three of the XPpro boxes. Makes me believe one of MicroSloth's updates killed them. Have not been burning in quite a while, so I didn't notice until Turkey Day. Had to do the burn on the 2000 pro box. Updated that to XP Pro and no burning of CDs there. Did a fresh install, after a format and the drivers/program that used to work on Xp no longer do. Can't find patch either. Thanks Bill! Ordered some fresh software which should be here on Tuesday with the rest of the parts. Cheers, Zepp |

| Yeah, there are more security blocks in XP now. Here's an interesting page. Shows memory performance between 2 and 4 sticks. Read the last para. http://www.xbitlabs.com/articles/mem.../aeneon_6.html |

Gonna do a full install on the box and not load the burning software drivers, because they screwed it enough that I have a warning in Device Manager. Thanks alot Bill.

I've been looking for 2x1GB 667 sticks but the best I can do right now is 8-4-4-4. Why not get 2 more Corsair 5400UL's that do 8-2-2-3 each. With four of them I should be able to get 8-3-3-3 working or even better with the higher VDDR of the D975XBX plus I won't have to sell my current set.

| Well I did some last minute Christmas/Birthday shopping by talking myself into another set of 5400UL sticks. These sticks are the best Corsair has to offer for DDR2 right now IMO and the only way they could get better is if they offered 1GB 5400UL sticks. But I won't wish for those any longer as I have made up my mind to go with 4 sticks. The only problem I see is if I want 4GB someday which I kind of doubt it. By that time I will be wanting DDR3/4. Also these 5400UL's are getting slim. They were in stock all over but NE and ZZF are out. Had to go with Monarch Computer. Just as a side note. ZZF is way above NE IMO. NE is below Monarch even (Monarch is 220 miles away in Atlanta which helps). |

| It's always fun to take care of number one. Glad you were able to find memory. Since NE switched to UPS looks like most of my business will go to others that do FedEx. The New MB, CP and Video card shipped yesterday and not from NE. OT Update-Since all three XPpro burners are down, thanks Bill, and my 98 box doesn't have a burner anymore, which also was ordered BTW, had to burn the SP2 file on my Apple Powerbook. Wanted to make a slipstream version and that is how I discovered that all three were down. Will do that after new SW arrives. Installing after a format now |

Maybe I am just super finicky. Since I don't think UPS is a viable shipping company, and lots of on-line merchants have stopped utilizing them, why would NE make the shift? Is it because UPS offered them a better deal, I don't think so. My assumption is that NE is well aware of the quality differences between the two, (I doubt there is a cost difference at the volume they do) and knows that a significant percentage of their customers will pay extra to go via FedEx, and as such they make a bigger profit on the shipping end. You say it's not much, I say it is NE pulling a scam to increase profits by under stating the inital advertised shipping costs and thus suckering people in because they think they are getting a better deal. It is when they get to checkout and find out the shipper is UPS, that NE is counting on the shopper being too lazy to look elsewhere and take the attitude of it is not much more and thus unjustly enriching NE. It is DIRTY competition in my book. No I'm not some maniac, the entire thing stinks to me. It could be that my absolute hate of UPS could be coloring my judgement a little, but if it is, it is not by much. Guess I'm am just sick and tired of being abused by businesses trying stick their hands deeper into my pocket and as such I sometimes vote against the abusers even if it does cost me more. I would rather deal with someone up-front and pay a premium than have someone try and extort more money even if the overall cost my be less. In non-critical things, where it doesn't matter if it takes 3 weeks to get stuff if shipped via UPS, then yes I probably will use NE if they have a significantly better price for me to quell my hate of UPS for a little while. Stubborn olde cuss, aint I Sorry 'bout the rant folks: I just can't abide abuse by buinesses or UPS.

| As my favorite store NE has dropped way down. ZZF has been my favorite for a while. I was not happy with cost and NE has not been lower than the competition and I had some hard drives come bad in very small boxes with hardly any filler and about 1.5' of tape only. Very sorry packaging IMO. Everytime I want something it is in stock at ZZF, it is cheaper, they always have 2-day FEDEX Express shipping free or very cheap. I always receive my packages fast and in giant boxes. I have seen NE gouging customers for new items that are in short supply. Their shipping costs have went up, and the shipping time has increased. It is harder to find free-shipping items at NE. Also NE has no refund policy on a whole lot of their products, exchange only. Mostly is is finding it cheaper at ZZF and not having to worry about shipping. It was a disgrace the containers my previous Raptors arrived in (broke). I haven't bought from NE in a long time and won't as long as ZZF carries it. I have bought a D875PBZ v3.04 mobos and all of my EE chips and video cards from ZZF recently. The only thing I use NE for are reading the product reviews and price comparing. |

My oldest most favorite on-line retailer was TC, Treasure Chest. They were great, but they got bought out by someone, and you know how that story goes. I wandered around and utilized various other places for big purchases, Directron, AberdeenInc, Provantage and was satisfied with them, with smaller orders elswhere, and then I happened upon ZZF when it was called something else(google???) and was pleased and made my home ther for a while. when the name changed, it felt wierd so I looked around some more via pricewatch.com and discovered NE. From the get go, NE was outstanding and shone brightly in all areas compared to the competion. I had to RMA a few things and they were a delight to deal with. But things change. Glad to hear ZZF is working out for you. My new stuff shipped from them yesterday
