| Re: Intel D975XBX (Bad Axe) I'm sticking with 2831, as there is no need for me to attempt a bios update. I do think your board went nuts, I had this happen some years ago, on an Intel 865PERL motherboard, flashed the bios, and the thing ended up with shut down problems, which included everytime I tried to shut it down, from within Windows, Windows would shut down, but then the board turned around and booted right back up. You may want to contact Intel and see if they will RMA your board. I've learned in the past 6 months, not to bother updating the bios unless you are having trouble, and need to attempt to flash the bios to fix a problem you hare having.

| Re: Intel D975XBX (Bad Axe) My D975XBX2 has become the best Intel board I've owned. Sandog, I looked at the picture of the DP45SG on Intel's website, and found 2 PCI Express slots on the board, so the DP45SG is capable of doing Crossfire, and Intel's own detailed specs state that the DP45SG can do Crossfire. Within a few months, I might be putting a Q6600 or a Q6700 quad core on my board.

| Re: Intel D975XBX (Bad Axe) Yes that is the good thing about the P45, it does Crossfire but only at 2x8X speeds which is really sufficient anyway. |

| Re: Intel D975XBX (Bad Axe) However if you drop a 3870X2 or 4870X2 in, the speed will be 16X for Crossfire, as the two cards I mention do Crossfire without the need of a second card. The form of Crossfire on the 3870X2 or 4870X2 is alternate frame rendering.

| Re: Intel D975XBX (Bad Axe) I use my Bad Axe as a dedicated Home Theatre and Home Audio PC. In the past there was an audio driver for the Bad Axe that had a control program in Media Center, it let you choose between Digital and Analog audio, as well as other things on the fly. The current driver has dropped the ability to chose the output type (digital or analog) unfortunatly I do not have that old driver. Is anyone aware of where I could get it? I now need that function. Thanks

| Re: Intel D975XBX (Bad Axe) I might have it...it was the very first driver for the BA2. Is that what you're looking for?

| Re: Intel D975XBX (Bad Axe) That might be it but I have the driver disc that came with my board and I have been unable to get that one to work, I get errors in Media Center, it says something about parts of the screen being incompatible, When I click through the errors the buttons I need are messed up (little red x's) I am guessing that one does not work with Vista Service Pack 2. On my disk Intel Audio Studio is version 2.0, the current version is 2.7. I think I need something between these two? But the features I need are on 2.0.

| Wolfdale with Bad Axe? I think the answer is no, but I hope I'm wrong. Can I use a Wolfdale processor with my D975XBX2?

| Re: Intel D975XBX (Bad Axe) No you cannot use a Wolfdale cpu on the 975XBX2. To be able to use a Wolfdale cpu, you must upgrade your motherboard to one that supports a Wolfdale cpu, and get new ram in some cases. Only Intel board capable of running the Wolfdale cpu, that doesn't require much is the Intel DP35DP. The DP35DP, also uses DDR2 memory the the DDR2 memory must run at 1.8 volts, and cannot go any higher on the DP35DP.
