Just got another reply from Intel:

Your issue has been reported to the product engineering team. They informed us that they are already aware of the issue and that it has been prioritized with the outstanding product issues. Unfortunately, I will not be able to tell you when it can be investigated by the engineering team, nor can I promise that it will be resolved in a future driver. If and when I receive an update from the engineering team, I will pass that along to you.

Thank you.

Sincerely,
Elizabeth H.

Intel Matrix Storage Manager 7.0.0.1020 WHQL

Not yet officially released by Intel, but already available at intel drivers pour Raid/Sata/Ata/Ahci

I wonder if this release includes fixes for abovementioned bugs.
Haven't tried it yet.

OK----so I loaded the latest current drivers at Vista Install-----Vista doesn't do F6 anymore----it gives you a special time to load drivers like this.

How would you update to these?

Simply run the installer-----or do I need to uninstall the current matrix application first??

I assume that it will only really update the matrix application and it's drivers----the Floppy disk drivers loaded at install won't change??

Wow, version 7! That was quick. I would wait as usual. I never do a driver upgrade unless it is on the official site and WHQL-period.

John, I would wait for you may need the suit-driver and Matrix Storage Manager. The readme's contain the instructions for what you need to do.

Not too slowly, at least surely. Soon they will be released.

Yes----a major version change....

I'll wait a bit to see how it turns out as my 4 Disk RAID-5 seems to be functioning perfectly......

Greetings all,

I'm new to an intel chipset board (Gigabyte GA-945P-S3) as well as this board (Hello all ).

I'm not running a RAID array, but I do have a SATA-II drive that I'm using as my main drive.

Is this something that I need to look at and/or install or something that is only need for RAID setups?

Thanks in advance....

7.0 Intel Matrix Storage Drivers

Got what I believe was an iastor error yesterday-----first error in 6 weeks of use....

The RAID-5 took two hours to rebuild and I was able to use the machine during that time just fine.....

But it was a tad scary.....

Decided to jump and try those new 7.0 Drivers mentioned....

All is well so far but I did notice that both on the 6.21 Drivers and the 7.0 drivers....

In the Intel Matrix Storage Manager Console it shows.....

Write-Back Cache Enabled------NO

Is that normal???

Do I want Write-Back Cache enabled?? If so, how do I enable it and what does it do for me???

Volume Write-Back Cache Enabled.

Does this not over ride the Device Manager setting?

Can't enable Writeback cache

I have a Raid 5 and cannot enable Writeback Cache...

In Device manager----it will not let me

I thought that was important for RAID 5 performance....

Does Intel NOT enable it on the ICH8R????

I'm using Intel Storage Manager 7.0

See the two attachments...

Is this not the way it is supposed to be???

I would not look at the device manager, Turn it on in Intel Storage Manager.
I think you left click or something to enable it. I have seen big improvements in benchmarks. I been doing that for a few years now on XP.

ICH6R, 7 and 8. I believe by default it is turned off in the Intel Storage Manager driver.

Looks like that doesn't work for non-RAID, AHCI only setups. Hmm, it's confusing.

johnrr6, could you use HDTach in both settings, and report your benchmarks (preferebly screenpictures)?

You'll notice substantial improvements when write-cache enabled (if RAID0).

Edit: just noticed that you've a RAID5 configuration.
