I don't think it will be updated anymore. Mr Steveo chimed in back in March. He told me that he would try to update it within that next week(in March), and if it wasn't updated then, he probably wouldn't update it anymore. The way he writes the guide is not easy really. There is LOTS of testing involved with MANY motherboards to ensure the most accurate results. He asks several forum members for input and testing. He asked me and I believe several other members if any of us wanted to take over the guide. I had to decline, because while I did alot of testing with him, I just can't put the time required in to keep the guide at the high standard it's at, although now outdated.

From personal experience and testing, I have found that for a basic non-raid install, A slipstreamed copy of XP SP2, then INF, windows updates, Video, then audio drivers is pretty much a failsafe way on both Intel and AMD systems now. This pretty much follows the basics of the guide.

Bummer

Too bad! This was a CLASSIC ABX post. Well written, precise and thorough. I'd hoped it would continue to evolve.

Hey Dan! I havent been around here in ages!

2005 has just been plum too busy for me to hang out here and work on the Guide. :-( My apologies to all for not having the time to get around to that Guide update I last mentioned.

Currently I have this weekend free and am catching up on a variety of Windows installation issues. I should also have time to do additional research next weekend and over the long Thanksgiving weekend.

Then, as I just PM'd to Paragon, I should be able to do a Guide update first of December. (I should also have lots more free time when December rolls around too.

Most importantly: If the unforseen occurs and there is to be any delay in the above schedule, I will post here.

-----------------

Additionally, if any of you with new chipset systems have any info to offer, please PM me. Since I do not have the latest and greatest chipset mobos at my disposal, if there are any items specific to the new chipsets that should be added to the Guide, let me know.

Hopefully everyone is having a great year!

Thumbs up

Hi,

I am sure I speak for a lot of the 'old timers' on here in saying a great big WELCOME BACK to Mr Steveo. It is really good to hear from you again.

I don't know why, but I just had a feeling that you would return to the forum again one day, and I am sure that we are all looking forward to an update to what I am sure is one of the best Windows installation guides ever written.

ABX Zone rules OK!

I'm really glad to see you back. I know life can get busy and a computer forum can take a back seat. But you are an asset to this forum!

I agree, welcome back.

I had to do a rebuild bue to a failed Raptor a few weeks ago. The first place I went was to review this guide.
