I was playing around with my memory timings and changed it to 2-2-2-6 @1.65V

Ran memtest all night with no errors, but when I went into windows, it caused Opera to crash and then jsut rebooted. I switched it back to 2-2-3-6.

When I used the Widows Memory Diagnostic, it seemed to run slower at 2-2-2-6 than at 2-2-3-6, any reason for this?

I'm quite new at this, but I thought that raising the volatge would allow better timings? I founf hat 1.65V is the Optimum, anything else and it causes errors in memtest

Thanks for the reply Sierra...Yes I did mean buffered. I did run the unbuffered and got similar "low" scores.

By the way, I brought everything back to default levels and only enabled "turbo mode". My scores now are just over 5000mb/s in buffered. I feel good about that, I just don't understand what I am doing wrong when I overclock the FSB. I know these are synthetic benchmarks maybe I'll have to run som video editing or encoding to compare really what is going on.

any other thoughts?

Thanks again.

.......more voltage is not always better. If ram is rated at 2.65v(notice the 2 ) then sometimes at default settings raising the volts cause memtest errors. I found in the past my XMS 3500 would only run at 2.65v at 200fsb - 2.75v at 217fsb - 2.85v at 225fsb. With some it is true more voltages will give you better timings but when I say more volts I mean like 3v - 3.2v and its not always going to run at lower settings just default at higher fsb,,,,,,,.........

What memory timings are you using? With Mushkin Level 2, you should be able to get fairly tight timings. Don't run your memory at SPD. Manually adjust everything. Tight timings will boost your Sandra score.

Sierra,

I have always been able to run 2-2-2-5.

That's one of the reason I feel my benchmarks should be better when I overclock.

I didn't even notice. It was one of those quick posts you don't read over. You just post it and forget about it.

Hey, maybe 1.65 would work too

Have you tried raising the FSB a little more? This will improve your Sandra memory bandwidth score. Most 3.0C's will hit at least 225-230FSB. Some go even higher.

New system OC results

Hey everyone.. Just got my new system..

I was able to reach my goal of 3.6+ and memory timings of 2.2.2.5 (And boot into windows) but memtest gave tons of errors. I am able to run 3.4-3.5 stable with no errors at 2.2.2.5. Just wanted to share.

Sweet, where did you get your 2.4c from? Where was it produced? What's the S-Spec code?

SL6Z3

I got it from zipzoomfly. I had read on a few forums that all the 2.4c's that they have for sale are the costa rica's SL6Z3's. I called them and confirmed. I ordered two of them and sure enough.. they are both the SL6Z3's with the glorious M0 stepping.

Since this forum topic goes into such detail.. I'll elaborate a little more...

I went to a lan party yesterday and played for 10 straight hours.. at the end of the party right after closing the last game played I checked my temps.. After 10 hours of 3d gaming my cpu temp was 49c. I am about 33c idle. Can't say enough about the system.

PROBLEM!! XP SP2

um.. let's see.. I ordered it on the 19th and got it on the 21st. BTW they have free 2nd day air. Can't go wrong!

I have a problem... I hope you guys can help.

I can not get Sp2 to work with it. First I formatted and installed xp with sp2 slipstreamed. It will install but when it goes to boot into windows for the first time it reboots. When it comes back up it gives me the startup menu, I choose start normally (or safe mode) and it just reboots again.

So then I installed xp with Sp1 slipstreamed. That went fine. Once I got into windows I ran the 212MB sp2 upgrade file and it installed fine, but when I went to reboot it to finalize the settings, again it would not boot into windows.

I can get Sp2 to work on my other puters...

Does anyone know about an incompatibility between Sp2 and the p4c800-e deluxe? I have read that there is a discussion about it on the MS beta site (But I've lost my password)

Hey! Everyone,

I need some help again. I know O’boy now what?

I purchased some Mushkin 1GB(512MBx2) DDR PC-3500 Level II memory on 1/1/04 from Newegg.com as per my system below.

The question I have and concern is? My system seems to be working ok, using WindowsXP Pro. Not overclocking at all. However I decided to do some memory testing with this new memory, just to see.

When I test it, with Memtest86+ v.1.00, I get no memory errors, but hangs after it reaches test no.3. When I use the Windows Memtester software. It shows memory fail at all levels.

Now bare in mind I have set the memory timing in the Bios from SPD, to 3-4-4-8 to 2-2-2-5 relaxed. Seems to make no difference at settings.

What doesn’t make sense is the system seem to be ok? “No lockups”, but thought there might be something going wrong soon. i.e. bad memory and or motherboard????????

Has anyone else come across this?

Assistance would be appreciated.
