| thats great guys, our sl6z3's will do over 300, rt now i am playing with 310fsb through Clockgen, however i run 300 24/7 through the bios since i got this chip (301+ must use clockgen), not one reboot or crash. Using the 3700 Els as well (great mem) ![]()

| lo guys. I've bought some hardware+software and have set up the following system: Intel P4 2.8C Asus P4C800-E deluxe Corsair TwinX1024-4000Pro (512x2) timings are 3-4-4-8(standard) Thermaltake spark 7+ cpu cooler WinXP +sp1 vcore is now at 1.575v. Memory is running at 1:1 ratio and with default voltage - 2.75. Even tryied 2.85 for memory and 1.6 for cpu. The problem is that I can't get the fsb over 235mhz = ~3.3Ghz At 240 the system freezes and have to do a manual reboot. The hardware should keep up with atleast 250mhz fsb or? Xbitlabs has with the same conf got up to ~3.6Ghz and 1025Mhz system bus. Ideas anyone? Forgot to mention that cpu temp is 26-27 degrees idle and 35-37 at full load (235fsb)

| I can run my 2.8C SL6Z5 at 250FSB with 1.575V, and have it now at 258FSB(3616MHz) with 1.65V. Have a Zalman CNPS7000ACU to cool it down. |

| >>>panoz You may have hit your (the cpu's) limit. Not ALL 2.8 overclock to 3.6 It all depends on what batch you've got and the stepping on the CPU etc etc.. 3.3 is actually pretty good if you don't have one of the new SL6Z5's And I think that even then its a matter of luck. Take a look at the 1st post in this thread (my own) and see if you find anything that you might have overlooked or not tried. If not just accept your O'C and have some fun instead ! And if you're not satisfied you can play around with your memory setting to boost your performance a little more. For example your memory should be able to run at 2.8v, 3-7-4-4 at least or even lower. http://www.nordichardware.com/review...index.php?ez=8

| Thanks for the reply man.. The thing that annoyies me mostly is that with cpuburn I manage to reach 235fsb with HT disabled(1hour+) and 225 with HT enabled(15min).. SL6WT is my P4 2.8C cpus code.. crap or no crap? Guess I have to live with those speeds, and try to alter memory timings instead.. EDIT: isn't it a bit weird that with HT enabled the cpu temp is 28 and with HT disabled temp is 36degrees at the same fsb(230)??

| Well I don't really know anything about your SL6WT, but there is none listed in the "top 10" CPU database list. http://www.cpudatabase.com/CPUdb/ Anyway HT does put more stress on your processor and is therefore more sensitive to "malfunction". But you can run a few benchmarks and see what gives you more performance, the 10Hz extra or HT enabled ! And once more ! You'll most likely not notice the extra 100/200Hz performance anyway in the day to day use. About the temps, I'm really only guessing but maybe when HT is enabled it routes data througt the transistors in a more optimized fashion resulting in lower temps. Just my guess But none of those temps are anything to even start worrying about !

| Hrm.. looks there is more finetuning to do on my system instead, memory timings - getting a second sata drive - better gfx card. Oh well, could be great to reach that 250fsb. To really test those expensive twinX1024-4000pro modules.. anyways thanks for your help man.. appreciate it.. ![]()

| >>> Panoz You can always "trade" the memory or cpu with a friend or someone who is about to buy a new system ! Or sell it to them for a reduced price and then buy yourself a 2.6 or 2.4 instead
