P4PE problem with standby/hibernation

Hi
I found some topics about it but didnt help...
As stated,i have Asus p4pe motherboard with latest bios,Sata drive connected to motherboard over pci controller, cause got a stupid motherboard without controller for sata
And have windows xp pro with sp2
Now,i know there is an option in bios to enable apic/suspend to ram
I have done that,and even reinstalled windows,but still,no chance
I still dont have hibernate tab and cant either go to standby

What may cause the problem?
1.Can it be the power supply,codegen,300w,model 200xa?
2.Something wrong with motherboard?
3.Dont know

PLEASE PEOPLE HELP ASAP!!!

Hi Kapicacro,

Dont panic! There is an issue where Xp doesnt always recognise the ACPI functionality on the motherboard sometimes.

You can check by right clicking "my computer" choose properties/hardware/device manager and expand the entry "computer".
If it shows ACPI in the description then the the problem is not ACPI, but if it only says "Standard PC" then ACPI is not installed.

To install ACPI you need to do a format and clean install.
Did you re-install windows over the top of the existing installation, or did you do a format and clean install?

Also, make sure your BIOS is flashed to latest version before doing the clean install.

If you dont want to do a format (because you have time constraint) then you can try the F5 feature:
Put the Xp cd in the machine to do a fresh install.
The first thing you will see is a message saying "press F6 if you need to install a SCSI or RAID...", now just press F5 (not F6!).
You then get a menu where you can choose the ACPI to install.

Good luck and let us know how you go!
