| you need to run two instances of prime . One per cpu. Type this in to the run box "C:\Program Files\Prime95\Prime95.exe" -a

The first one should run "Prime95 -A1" and the second one should run "Prime95 -A2" Run both batch files at the same time and they will use both of your processors (works with Hyperthreading also). You will now see 100% CPU usage.

| Run the first instance of Prime95 the usual way. Under affinity select processor 0. Start the second instance through the run command, the structure varies with install directory: C:\Prime95\Prime95.exe -a1 It's also useful to run a single instance of Prime95 with other programs (like 3dMark03) to test various components (like sound and video under stress). I like to run a number of programs and watch a DVD to see if I skip or anything. |

| I got these instructions on running 2 Prime95 consoles from the ABXZone forum a few months ago. -------------------------------------------- "-Open the Prime console as you normally would, but don't start the torture test. -Then go to Start button - Run. -Click the browse button and find where you located Prime95.exe Once you find it, click Open. - The path in the browse box will probably look like this "C:\Program Files\Prime95\Prime95.exe" - Put your cursor at the end of that text line after the ...exe" - Press the space key once and then type -A1 (dash A one) "C:\Program Files\Prime95\Prime95.exe" -A1 - Press the OK button. You now have two Prime Consoles Now before you begin the tourture test, go to Options - CPU and in the two boxes for amount of memory used, take whatever number shows in there now and divide it in half, and then enter the new halved number in both boxes. Save and exit the options box. Do the same thing for the other Prime console. Failing to do this will result in the chewing up of your paging file (I know cuz I just tried LOL ) Now run Torutre Test on both consoles..... You're now using 100% CPU Utilization on an HT CPU." ----------------------------------------------------- |

| What happens if you just double click 2 instances of prime95? The setup I have is that I have 2 different folders of prime95 application. I click start instances from the 2 folders and get 2 instances of prime95. Would this method be prone to error? TIA |

| Re: prime 95 Has anyone used the daytime memory and nighttime memory settings under CPU options? Any recommendations on what these should be set to for stress testing?

| Re: prime 95 Well, I think its just best to leave them as is. Another issue that someone may know about; when I run two instances of P95, one for core 0 and the other for core 1, the core 1 blend torture test runs extremely slowly on the second core. Maybe 10x slower than core 0? Also I notice that these tests dont stress the CPU more than about 50%. I've found that if I run the blend test on core 0 and the short FFT test on core 1 at the same time then the system resources are totally maxed out (memory and CPU) which seems a better stress test. Anyone got any thoughts opinions on this approach?
