Heres what happened. I typed in what you said and it didn't work same error. I decided to try something of my own so I typed afudos /ip4c81014b.rom and go figure it worked and is updating as I type this. Hopefully this fixes my mobo troubles. Thanks for your help

Yes I'm up past my bed time--I was giving you the example setup instead of the file name that I had downloaded and was staring in the face. ![]()

Well I just went in my BIOS settings and used the AI overclocker to get a 5% overclock with the performance mode to turbo...I started up my comp and not a single hang up and so far its running just fine, faster but fine Hey thanks for staying ip and helping me with this. I can finally overclock my comp which is why I bought all the parts I did.

Right Click, if you start having trouble don't use the turbo. That said, if you are booting with turbo at all it looks like smooth sailing ahead.

Oh crap! So I'm sitting there typing on my comp and my comp shuts down. When it starts up it says: Bad BIOS checksum starting BIOS recovery. Then it started searching my cd drive and floppy drive for the p4c800.rom file which is on my mobo disk. I've had this happen before and if I put in the cd and put the old BIOS back on and set everything to default in the settings it will run . I had a gut feeling it wouldn't be this easy. Could it be the turbo thats freakin out, or do I have something else going on?

Right after the flash did you set everything to "Default Settings" before you went to turbo?

I just started it up without changing anything. Then I wanted to test it so thats when I went and turned on turbo and 5% overclock. ADD: Right now I'm back on my comp...after flashing the old bios from the mobo disk like it insisted. I'm getting about ready to shoot this mobo or some bios whatever is doing this Last edited by Right Click : 11-28-2004 at 01:09 AM.

Go in and set to default settings--maybe use the jumper if you want. Then leave at default if you can boot. then reboot and start setting up. Turbo not only sets your rig to the lowest latencies any ram can go, it also makes other adjustments that not many PC's can run stable at. Bottom line if you have ram that can run at 2-2-2-5 you are better off setting it up manually. Try it again, it's all part of the process

Ok, now if you want try it again--try a later bios if you want. Either way, you always have to set it to default after a flash. I set mine to default before and after a flash.

Ok so basically just don't turn on the turbo? I think I'll try the 1016 just for the heck of it. I'll be sure this time to set it to default after I flash. Also is there anything i should try to see if the new bios helped? I'm not sure if ya understand my question but for instance when i had the old bios I couldn't change anything without the comp shuting down before it even made it to the XP sign in window. With the new bios I even overclocked it and used turbo and it didn't shut down for o 10-15 minutes. Could it be that the turbo is just screwing everything up that bad? Thanks again, its nice to have someone who knows and has been through this stuff before. You've helped me alot.
