Troubles with my P4C800 deluxe

Ok so like my topic says I'm having some difficulties with my mobo.

Let me be non-n00b and post my comp info so you guys know what I'm working with hehe.
Heres my system:

CPU - Pentium 4 2.80Ghz C 1.525V max., System bus 800MHz, 512KB L2-Cache, PGA-478 with HT

Mobo - Asus P4C800deluxe

RAM - 1gig(2x512MB)of Crucial 184 Pin DDR PC-3200 8T

HD - Western Digital Special Edition 80GB 7200RPM IDE Hard Drive, Model WD800JB

Video Card - SAPPHIRE ATI RADEON 9800PRO Video Card, 256MB DDR, 256-bit, DVI/TV-Out, 8X AGP

Case - Thermaltake Black Xaser III Super Tower http://www.thermaltake.com/XaserCase/xaser3/v1000a.htm

Powersupply - Thermaltake 420W

Ok so I put this system together over a year ago and it doesn't start, turns out a screw from the case was touching it therefore grounding it, which in turn didn't allowing it to start. I got that fixed but then I started having this stupid error telling me something like my Overclock failed, which I wouldn't mind so much...if I had of actually overclocked it. I didn't touch anything to overclock it. My bios also started acting up giving odd messages that I didn't have a bios installed or some nonsence like that. What I wound up doing taking out the CMOS(I believe thats the right thing)battery thats on my mobo which inturn erased my bios and all that. I then put it back in and started from scratch, installing my bios from the motherboard cd and setting all my bios options to default. My comp ran just fine after that whole ordeal but to this day it gives a weird error everytime I start up my comp. I took a picture of it took help you all out. http://www.ctsupload.com/images/upload/pictures-003.jpg
Now looking in my Bios options I think that its trying to start up in RAID. When I switch that option from RAID(which it seems to default to)to IDE it gives an almost exact same error only instead of the Fasttrack which I'm guessing is the RAID(maybe) it gives another name(sorry I can't remember it). If need be I can change that to IDE again and take a pic of what it says. Anyways when I pick the IDE option it starts looking for a bios from my floppy or cd drive. This is the weidest problem and has be totally baffled.

So basically where I am now is the comp runs perfectly fine other than the fact every couple of days or so it seem to just shut off...I turn it back on and tada it works just fine and that little error in the picture. If I try to adjust any of the major settings in the BIOS options it freaks out. If I turn on the performance accelerator or the performance boost it will pop up a screen that says overclocking failed or it will start the whole BIOS weirdness all over again. You might say well shoot if it ain't broke why are ya trying to fix it...the reason being is I'm at the point where I'm going to overclock it but I can't because of this. Plus I don't want that stupid error poping up everytime I start my comp.

Any help would be awesome and greatly appreciated.

EDIT: Oh make sure you copy that link to the pic open a new window and then paste the link cause for some reason on these forums it won't let you go straight to the pic.

Ok I have an update.

I figured out what the pic in my last post was all about. It's the OnBoard Promise Controller which allows you to enable or disable the onboard RAID controller.

The stupid thing about that is it defaults to enabled so since my comp is not set up in RAID it gives that error. Since I disabled that the error no longer appears.

That still doesn't fix my other problem so any help on that would be great.

Do you have the latest BIOS for your board? If not, try flashing it to the latest BIOS version and see if fixes your problem.

Maybe I’m missing it but what bios is installed now. If I were you I would reset the bios you have now but only by using the reset jumper on the MB. The jumper is more reliable. And the image link is not working for me, can you post it as a thumbnail with your next post?

Oh the trick to the link is ya got to open a new window in Internet explorer(or whatever you use) then copy paste the address and tada ya got a pic(you have to use this method for pic link on these forums I believe. But hey to make it easier for ya I'll post the pic. Don't really worry about what that pic says cause I figured out what the problem was and fixed it. Thats not to say that my bios isn't still weird, I just got rid of that useless deal.

I'll restart my comp right now and check out what bios is installed at the moment. I wouldn't doubt it if it was the bios because I had a time getting the thing working when I first bought the comp. I had to reset the bios using the jumper the day i put my comp together cause the stupid thing was weirding out on me. I finally got it to boot to windows but like I said I still can't touch any of the major settings in the bios without it restarting or giving an error.

Ok I just restarted my comp and found out that my bios is

BIOS revision 1011 beta 006

Does this mean that I can and should switch straight to the newest bios which I believe is 1019?

You might have a corrupt bios you could try the 1014 or 1016. Some people here have reported little glitches with the 1019 although that may be related to something other than the bios. The bios's mentioned above have gotten pretty good reviews as well as the 1011 for that matter. You should try another one though. Don't know how much longer I will be up though, I may have to check in the morning--good luck

Type this at the A prompt>
afudos_/iP4CED14.ROM_/n_/pbnc

The _ is a space, don't type it, just spacebar. I'll wait for you to come back. You obviously have a pc there right if you can keep me informed as you go.

Ok I typed exactly what you said to and it said, Unable to open .rom file

Oh and I've been posting from the same comp I was working on but have just now switched to another comp so I can leave everything on my comp(the one we are working on). Right now the comp is sitting in DOS mode with that unable to open rom file.

The zip file is the P4C81014A.zip

The file’s property is the P4C81014.ROM

Yet the setup instructions say use afudos /ip4c800b.rom

Try Just> afudos /ip4c800b.rom
