Hey Z,

what cpu temp do you have with your
Tualatin PIII 1.2Ghz at 1,422Mhz 1.5v ?

Also Im wondering why do you have 1,5v. My TUSL2-C shows me 1.47v (the CPU wants to have exactly 1.45v) for the 1266 Tualatin.

Ral,

My temperature hovers between 92-100 degrees F. Depends on ambient of course. Had a peltier on it at first. I removed it being as I don't need it. I just modded an old PP66, threw that big new 60mm from Delta and walla ! MBM and bios are both showing 1.5 volts consistantly. I did read someplace before that the 1.26 512k Tulatin uses a touch less voltage. Don't know why. I am still waiting on my 1.26 to come in, when it does I'll let you know what voltage it is at on my machine.

RAL

My temps are steady at 34 C idle and 38 C load. I'm in process lapping my heatsink to a mirror surface in the hopes of dropping a degree or 2. By the way, even at a core voltage of 1.575, my temps remain the same at 34 C/38 C.

Tim

The new 1009.006 bios now supports voltage adjustments for the cpu. check it out under the BIOS section. Ral informed me and I tried it out with success.

Z,

WOW ! Thanks I'll give it a try. Hey z, do you think that the MAD could tweak this bios with just the AGP 4x fix only ? I don't know if that would make a difference or not with the trouble. Just curious. Also or, is the 4x AGP above 140 fixed by ASUS in this one ?

Ok thx guys,

So I think I will need a new cooling solution. I use the boxed Intel heatsink at 43 C (desktop) 48 C (burnmmx).
I have a silent case, so I will look out for a silent as well as cool doing heatsink. Silverado perhaps.

Z,

I got the 1.26 Tulatin 512k yesterday. I paid 375 bucks for it. My temps are exactly the same as per the 1.2 Tulatin. There is a slight increase in speed, not much though. I have it running at 1510 right now, completely stable using default voltage. 159/159/39-7/9-strong. I will try 160 next.....

Tim,

Put it through the ropes and let me know if you notice any issues that RAL has run into. I don't think you could get a better PIII system than what you've got. You just bought a 1.2 and replaced it with a 1.26!! You are insane!! Of course, If I could locate a 1.26 at that price, I'd be just as crazy.

Ok-I'll let you know how everything is Friday. That should be enough time to test it.

Now I have a Kanie Heagehog 238 with a 3700 RPM fan.

Temps @1,52 GHz are

~39°C Desktop
~45°C BurnMMX

With a faster fan I would get better values, but it's not necessary I beleive.

I still have the problem, that the cpu temp is not going back on idling, even not on idling for a long time period. After a max load with BurnMMX the CPU temp is going down from 45°C to 43°C, but not less. I'm not sure about the reason. (Case temp is stable at 29°C)

Ral,

Look at the processor info in Sandra. Tell me what the temperature is reported there for your machine.

Tim,

Sandra 2001.5.8.11 shows 25,5°C (77,9°F) CPU temp

where MBM 5.08 and BIOS and Asus Probe 2.14.02 (from the mainboard CD) shows ~40°C CPU temp

Tim,

do you have tried out the new TUSL2-C BIOS (1009 beta 06) with cpu voltage adjustments? What values do you get for your 512K Tualatin?

Would you say it was worth the upgrade for the 512K?
