Unhappy *** 512kb L2 and TUSL2-c?

OK, I read all through this thread and got lost...
Can I use a Tualatin 1.26 512kb L2 on my TUSL2-C or not?

Asus site says no... but some of the threads here say people are... So whats the answer?

And... if there is a tweaked bios to do it, how about posting where to find it! All this talk about MAD and the tweaked bios's has me interested but in the posts there is not detail...

Fill an idiot in please :-)

Bob

It will work fine finless... Intel simply does not promote it for desktop use. They are marketing it for servers.

Welcome aboard on ASUSBOARDS.COM!

512kb L2

Hey thanks for the welcome to the board :-)

I use to be here a lot when I had a CUSL2 my name was Boomer way back when the site was CUSL2.com

Now that my 2nd machine is on TUSL2-C because I want that platform (yes I like to be in there :-) ) I am back!

Anyway.... Why does ASUS say the 512Kb is not supported?
I assumed it was for a reason? Maybe even they are forcing the marketing of "server class" platforms too..

An Email to their tech support has resulted in NO RESPONSE (I did not expect any).

Thanks, currently on a TUSL2 with a 1 gig P3... I got this board cause I wanted the "future" Tualatin's and was FREAKED when the ASUS site said no go on the 512KB Tualatin's....

So bottom line no problems then? Just plug it in a go?

Anything I should do first?

I can get a 1.26 512 for $112 right now and want to make the jump :-)

Thanks again,
Bob

Restricted area?! LOL

I'm pretty sure they work finless. A few members here run the 512K 1.26 on that board. I can't see why the 1.4 wouldn't work either. I guess bajo can confirm that for you soon.

In the meantime I'll frag him with my Athlon system currently clocked @ 1.7GHZ!!!

Angry Celeron 1200 help wanted

Hi all,

I just got my tusl2c and a brand new celeron 1200 cpu. I'm new to overclocking and I tried to raise the fsb to 133 but the damn thing failed to boot. I tried adjusting voltages and so on ... but nothing worked.

Could someone explain to me in a couple of steps how to get the thing to work I want it to work with a 133 fsb at 1600 mhz without overclocking pci because of my really expensive dsp cards ...

Greetz and if someone feels like mailing a detailed instructions set feel free to do so at valium1977@hotmail.com

I really want this to work so any help is greatly appreciated ...

Greetz

Smile Welcome to Forums Valium !

Now, I'm really not familiar with Celerons - is yours a 100MHz or a 133MHz default ?
Also, if you add more details, I'm sure someone else might drop in with an advice.

details

Well

my system consists of :

asus tusl2-c mobo
celeron 1200 mhz
matrox g550 dualhead agp
baracuda IV 40 gb drive
adaptec scsi card with 2 plextor drives on it
3com network card
and finally 2 dsp audio cards.

the cpu runs at 100 mhz and 1.475 v defaults

my only option because of the two dsp cards to overclock is to get everything running at 133 mhz fsb so that the pci bus stays at a stable 33 mhz. I don't want to do anything else cause the two cards combined are about 2500 dollars. So i guess you get the picture ..

anybody plz????

Well Valium-How high are you currently getting on your Celeron? If you're only getting to like 110FSB, you may never be able to get to 133FSB unless you do some serious Mods to your Motherboard.

But what I would reccommend is to raise your Vcore voltage a step or two and try again. You may have to download the latest BIOS update in order to gein this capability.
