| Hi everyone! I have a couple of problems with my new system. I'm using CUSL2-C BIOS 1003. When I reset the PC the monitor (SONY CPD-G200) starts its degauss procedure and the mouse's light starts flashing (IntelliMouse Explorer). This did not happen on my previous PC when I was using the same monitor and mouse. Are there any settings for this in the BIOS ? I don't mind the flashing of the mouse but the degauss is really annoying. Can you help ? Also ... I have a Golden Orb and I am running the PC Probe 2.12.07. The problem is that from time to time the Probe reports that the fan has stalled (0 RPM) while I can see it spinning. I try to download the new version of the PC Probe but the server is always busy. One last one - which BIOS version is the best ? Please help me! | I have the same problem with my fan, but this is not a a golden orb but a heavy sink one. He also stop sometime for less than a sec. I have also at boot up 1 beep (that normal), and 2 little ploks (not beeps but ploks...) I have this board for 4 days and i have spend almost every free hour to find the prob but didn.t find it. The board is working great besides this. So if anyone have a solution for this.... Marchu |

| I think it's a software fault I dare it's the Probe software. Mine is doing exactly the same, so I installed Motherboard Monitor, and works like a charm (no more 1sec. 0RPM reads)

| On the monitor problem, make sure you have the latest config INF file(s) installed for the unit. Double check the relevant settings in your CRT, OS and BIOS. Also, check out any other faqs/forums, which might address this issue. On the Asus Probe problem, this is common place with the software. Consider using MBM v5.04. On the BIOS question, "which BIOS version is the best ?" that is relevant to your personal preference and/or needs. The latest Non-Beta, official release is 1003. I wouldn't advise using earlier Bios versions, unless for some reason, your particular system has a gain from doing so. About the Beta releases, basically ask yourself this: Do you want to venture with betas? Do you need to venture with betas? Do you have a system problem addressed in a beta? If, you answered yes, to any of the above, then go for it.

| Alright, thanks for the info. Though I haven't solved the previous issues, I have another one at hand. Now my "Num Lock" light doesn't turn off when I power off the PC (Windows -> Shutdown). What is causing this and is there a way around it ? About the monitor - I don't think installing the latest INF will help. The problem is much earlier in the start up process. When I restart, the monitor switches to suspend mode because there is no signal from the VGA card (you already know that). So, it switches to suspend mode and then switches back on like usual, but it degausses. That's the problem. This did not happen before (4 days ago when I was using it on my old setup). What is obvious to me is that the motherboard takes too long to boot up/POST and the monitor is suspended for a second, then suddenly it is reactivated and this causes it to degauss. My question - is there a setting in the BIOS to prevent this ? I'm not sure where I saw it, but someone said that the new Beta BIOS POSTs faster. This could resolve my problem. If anyone has tested the new BIOS, can you forewarn me of any problems with it ? Now about the mouse. It's still flashing and now it's even longer. Once I thought that the system hung at boot up. I saw somewhere something about enabling/disabling USB legacy support but I can't find the post now. What is it about ? I'm sorry for making this post so long. Thanks in advance! Martin

| USB Legacy Support option in the bios is related to USB functionality within 'pure DOS' mode, or 'Fail Safe' Win9x mode. Disabling it, you will loose USB functionality under those environments. I don't know if disabling it affects a WinNT or a Linux installation because I have not tried it *yet*. Feel free to try disabling this option and see if it helps you, and revert it to 'Enabled' if not, because leaving it disabled will cause too much troubles in case you must boot into 'Safe Mode' (never needed to manage Win9x with only a keyboard?). If you have an USB keyboard too you'll be in serious trouble when you boot into 'Safe Mode' with USB Legacy Support disabled.

| NumLock: This is normal, depedning on your bios and jumper settings. Read pages 8, 11, 15, 20 and 72 of your MoBo manual. Monitor: I understand what you're saying, but if there are newer INF files for your CRT, why not try them, it shouldn't hurt. Also, try looking in the SONY web site, they might have something on this. USB Mouse: Basically, what dCrypt said. Good Luck.
