Asus M8300 modem / Win2 HELP

I've just installed Win2k SP4 on this Asus M8300 notebook and all is fine except that when I try to dial out on the modem, I can log onto an ISP but I can't actually view any pages ( I just get the 'This page cannot be displayed.....' screen.

The modem appears to dial out and connect to the ISP, there are no driver problems noted in device manager...

I've used the same phone outlet and cable on anther laptop and that's ok....

I have no firewall installed....

Via ethernet, I can connect to webpages fine....

Any ideas on what might be up?

Could the modem be semi faulty? it is an LT (Lucent) Winmodem (yuk) LTV90

Thans for any ideas

Have you got WinSock Proxy Client enabled? Check in control panel... If it's on, disable it while you're using the modem...
