I haven`t experienced something like this but I have a Diamond Supra STT 56i proDF internal modem and using WinMe.
I was very dissapointed by their support and their driver updates-which are not found on every mirror server,at least were not.
Even that I had used 98 drivers succesfully, there are a "new" ME drivers.
If you have same modem, look for SUP code and what extra features have, like voice, fax, etc.
Mine is plain with SUP2850 and I use "suprasst-2850_winme_21407b" driver-no probs.

Check on their site for that problem and D/L latest driver-although it`s a mess!
And check any fax program settings.

Hey jorgeferreira,
Do you by chance have a "call waiting" feature (or equivalent) which allows you to hear a signal when a second call occurs during an active call, and switch between the 2 calls? If so, go to modem properties, click on dialing properties, check the box for disable call waiting & select the appropriate dialing string. "*70," works for me (USA), "70#," and "1170," are common alternatives (no quotes, of course). I'm not sure what the equivalent would be in Portugal. Any help?

Hi jorgeferreira

If this is occuring while you are not on the internet you need to go into your bios (Power>>Power Up Control) and disable the Power up on external modem or disable wake on lan/pci modem. If the phone rings, with some modems when these options are enabled, you will experience a hesitation in operation - in severe cases a complete lock-up.

If you are on the Internet, then the solution SKI offered to disable call waiting should solve it for you.

Hey ChAsM,
Nice One! I didn't even think about that possible meaning of what Jorge wrote. Obvious once you posted.
