Death of a Cable Modem-Part 2


Just thought some of you would enjoy the comic update to this thread
Death of a Cable Modem

Chapter 1 all happened on July 3rd. I expected to receive the replacement unit 3-4 business days later which would make it last week Wed or Thurs. Well, you guessed it, no modem Fri or Mon. Figured calling the foreign tech support guys wouldn't get me any where, so Monday afternoon I called Netgear headquarters in Calif. and asked for a supervisor of customer service. Got a lady's voice mail. Pushed 0 to go back to operater, told her I didn't want to leave message, was there anybody else to talk to. She said no, so I asked to be put back to Shelly, head of Quality Assurance/Customer service. Got transferred to Pluto I think. It just rang repetitively, no voice mail. Hung up and called back. Got Shelly's voice mail. Left her a message. Asked her to please return my call same day,and let her know I was in Eastern US time zone. You guessed right again - never heard from her (add two long distance phone calls to the expense.)
Today, Tues, I waited til lunch time here, 9am in Calif. Looked on web site and found another 800 number to call. Tried it and got recording. Left message w/rma #. Message said they would call back within one hour. Ha - Ha! another joke on me. 3pm my time I called same 800 number again. This time I got a warm body(somewhere in central time zone - go figure!) Nice guy. Didn't even give me a chance to dump on him. Asked for RMA # and proceeded to tell me units had been on Backorder!! "Just received 10 today. We'll get yours out right away, Fedex next day, no charge to you". Wha-da-ya'll think my chances are of getting it tomorrow?! Good thing I bought another, huh?
