| Hello all, i recently bought a desktop that has no os installed.the day i received the pc i powered it up to make sure it worked. it did. next day i tried to install win xp on it and it shuts down. i wait 3 minutes thinking it would come back on but it doesn't. i push the power button, pc comes on and the disk drive shoots out the xp disk.i push it back in but the disk drive shoots it back out. this happened 4 times! so i take the disk out and cut it off. when i power it up, my screen doesn't even say 'insert disk blah, blah, blah'. the only thing on the screen is a blinking line. i put the win xp disk back in, but the screen reads 'out of range'. take the disk out and power down. the next day, i power it on and it only runs for 3 minutes before shutting off. i power it back up but it does the same thing again. athlon 64 bit 3800+ 1gb 250gb dvd+rw anybody know whats going on? also i can tell the fan is not running like it should. it runs fast and then slows down, but back and forth. any help is appreciated thank you |

| Re: desktop not working Sounds like multiple problems, but I would also check the heatsink on the cpu to make sure it is seated properly. Actually I would check all heatsinks and connections for that matter. hope this helps
