| Downloading MS updates? Today the little MS update icon popped up on my 2 home computers. So I checked them out and decided to download them. I have a notebook IBM T41) and a desktop that I recently built. Both computers access the Internet through a 2-Wire Modem that allows me to connect without running wires all over my house. My problem is the laptop took over 6 hours to download these updates while my desktop downloaded them almost instantly, about 30 seconds! Both at the same time!!!! Normally I wouldn't have both systems on and I would do one at a time. But my notebook always takes hours for these updates. And this only seems to happen when I download MS updates. Anyone have an explanation for this? Thanks, gtirr |

| Re: Downloading MS updates? Must be one of those generalized updates that downloads a whole bunch, but then only installs stuff that's needed depending on the system's patch history. Also, it's Windows ...

| Re: Downloading MS updates? Did you check the modem settings? Did you try to invert the 2 wires? Did you try with only the notebook physically connected Did you check on the manufacturer site (problems, firmware updates,...)? Did you try another modem? By the way, what is the reference of your modem? Which OS are you running on your notebook? ram? cpu? |
